Can we get a "Galaxy" Gaurdian Maokai skin, as part of the Star guardian line. That bears a striking resemblance to Groot/baby groot from Guardians of the galaxy? perhaps he could be holding a raccoon(rocket), and/or throw raccoons with explosives for his saplings?! I'd buy two!

Actually, Ivern could slide into Odyssey much easier than Maokai. Maokai and Malphite are almost interchangeable (I confuse them constantly due to their general looks, names, and tank roles), so Maokai would overlap Malphite fairly significantly. Ivern is diverse enough from Malphite to actually work in the Odyssey setting, and he also gives them a role they don't have available to the main crew - Jungler.

I think you're overthinking the skin lines. Riot makes skins for people to buy them. If its a cool idea that people would want to buy, they probably would make it. Just an idea that popped into my head that i'd pay for. Cheers

No, I'm not over thinking it. Riot has stated they try to steer away from overlap in skin lines so that each line is diverse on it's own. I get that you'd buy Maokai, but I'm merely stating that Maokai in Odyssey overlaps Malphite too much, and doesn't deliver a diverse enough addition to their roster. Ivern DOES add diversity to their roster and he doesn't overlap with any of the other characters while also being a very excellent Groot homage.
Plus, what Makes Ivern a better Groot homage is his tall, spindly body, since Groot is also slender and skinny. Plus, Groot has shielded his allies and habitually snares enemies with his roots, things which can perfectly translate into Ivern's kit. Ivern also has a pet, Daisy, who can be reimagined as some fuzzy space beast as an homage to Rocket, especially since Daisy and Ivern are also a signature couple like Groot and Rocket. The potential for Ivern as a Groot reference is just a much better fit than Maokai.

I'm not certain how they could translate Maokai into one of their cosmic skin lines without having him be weird (Cosmic nor Darkstar are good fits) or overlapping heavily with others (Odyssey, specifically Malphite). Either way, there's not an easy way to make him a nod to Groot since Groot is just a tree dude in space. I guess they could make him a tree dude in an orange jumpsuit.

If they made him look like baby groot, he would have more of a "star guardian" look. and they could throw him in his red jumpsuit, and throw in Rocket to make it more GoG.
Just thought of the idea, and thought it would be fun. id buy it. But everyone's entitled to their opinion.
