Dalo, the eyes in the fog
Dalo, the eyes in the fog
Dalo was a marksman in the Noxian army, renowned for his superb abilities and efficiency. He served for many years taking on darker and more challenging missions in unwavering and loyal service to his home. In his many years of service he never once challenged the orders from his superiors until one briefing fell across his desk. Within the mission's briefing folder contained the description and location of a young boy...the heir to the Damacian throne, Jarvan IV. While Dalo had no past problems eliminating military targets and threats to his homeland, the prospect of killing a child, even one who is the heir to the throne of Damacia no less, was too repulsive an action to carry out. The punishment for insubordination in the Noxian military is death, he did not wish to surrender his life, to save the life of enemy royalty nonetheless. After wrestling with the choices that lay before him, Dalo chose to flee his home and go in search of a place where his talent could be appreciated without needing to kill the innocent. Dalo soon encountered representatives from the League of Legends and decided to join the league and use his abilities for a better cause. Let me preface this by saying that since Dalo has only one ability that directly does damage, the stat to focus on will be critical strike chance, allowing him to deal quick explosive damage to the enemy.
Abilities:
Autoattack: Ranged attack with a rifle.
Passive: Gains armor penetration on assist or kill of a champion
Q: Full Metal Jacket Does (_) damage and applies a damage over time affect. Skill shot. Leveling this ability up gives a flat damage increase. W: Claymore Dalo plants a claymore with the ability to aim it while placing it. The claymore when triggered sprays shrapnel outward in a conical are like a shotgun dealing damage and applying a slow, however he is limited to only three at max level. Leveling this ability up increases the number of claymores available up to three and increases the damage and slow.
E: Drop-In Dalo calls in an airlift and soon descends onto the target location by parachute. While descending, Dalo is at the mercy of any champions, turrets, or minions in the nearby area. Leveling this ability up decreases the amount of time vulnerable Note: Selecting a bush as the target location would not conceal Dalo while he is descending. He would stealth once he hit the ground.
R: Die Tired Dalo steadies his breathing, calculates his bullet’s trajectory and then with absolute precision fires a marking bullet at his target. The target champion is stunned, slowed, and made visible to allies for a certain amount of time. This ability deals no damage. Leveling this ability up increases the duration of time that the target is visible.
Break down: Dalo’s Q is the only ability he has that directly deals damage to the enemy. It is meant to be an initiator or a finisher, in short it does massive damage in the end game, and in early game is an equalizer of sorts. I designated it as a skill shot because his W and E do not require much effort in terms of use. This does not mean that Dalo is an easy champion but that I have tried to equally distribute the “skill abilities” and the “point and shoot” ones. Dalo’s Q damage relies on his critical strike chance to be effective because as said above, it is his only option for dealing direct damage.
Claymore is meant to act in a similar way as Teemo’s mushrooms but to a lesser extent. The claymores should allow for Dalo to have a sense of security within his jungle without completely denying the chance of enemy incursions. Note: Dalo would only have access to all three claymores at max levels and they would have a similar lifetime of Teemo’s mushrooms but not the same cool down. As far as aiming the claymore goes, after pressing W and clicking the location for the claymore, you would then move your mouse in the intended direction you wish the claymore to be aimed and then click again to plant it.
Drop in gives Dalo maneuverability and allows him an escape should be find himself no longer among friends. This is an homage to units such as the Army Airborne and other special forces that use parachutes to land behind enemy lines. Note: Dalo must have vision of the desired area to parachute to, and is much like Nocturne’s ultimate in terms of range and vision requirements.
Die Tired gives Dalo great utility not only for himself but for his team. This ultimate does not deal damage, but allows for his teammates or himself to lockdown kills. It would have a decent range and would probably be a selected target ability but it it would serve better as a skill shot then that would be totally fine as long as minions and neutral monsters couldn’t intercept it.
This champion is based on the ideas of asymmetrical warfare and the tactics of units like the Army Airborne in WWII that parachuted behind enemy lines and used their advanced training and abilities to wreak havoc and act as a force multiplier. I wanted to make sure that Dalo did not fall into similar categories as other ranged champions. He is intended to be a jungler and I designed him in a way that it would be really impossible for him to be an ADC. There aren’t many true ranged jungle champions so I wanted to branch into somewhat uncharted waters and try something different. I know many champions have sustain and if that needs to be worked in then I’m sure I can do so. However I think focusing on his ability to quickly deal large amounts of damage should come at a cost, perhaps his sustain?
These are some ideas I had for voice emotes. Props to you if you get the second one!
Movement
“I didn’t sign up for this”
“Better than fighting in a basement”
“Time to move”
“It’s hunting time”
“It’s too quite around here”
Joke
“Now which way am I supposed to I aim this thing? (holding claymore)”
Taunt
“I think something is clogging up the barrel, can you give it a check?”
Dance
Some dance from the forties would be cool, this is going back to his resemblances to the Army Airborne and WWII time period theme.
As far as his appearance is concerned I don’t think it would be too difficult to create something that would fit into the time period of the league of legends while still resembling a military uniform from the 1940s. I would draw something but I'm not exactly artistically inclined lol. This is the first time I have ever attempted something like this and I would love to have your feedback! Thanks!
