[Champion Concept] Fawn, The Pathfinder
Old forums may be gone, but if you don't think I'll still be throwing Fawn at people, then you are sorely mistaken. So without further ado...
Fawn, The Pathfinder
Lore
The Astral Grove was never a very easy place to find. Among the peaceful forests of Ionia, those seeking aid and healing could wander the woods without fear of attack. However, the chances of getting lost there, searching for the Grove, remained ever present. Those injured or seeking guidance found their way to the Grove thanks to the aid of an elusive being; swift of foot, ever out of sight. Rumors abound of this figure, and the locals have taken to calling him several nicknames: the Wanderer, the Starguide, the Pathfinder.
He prefers to go by Fawn.
Fawn was once human, a wandering explorer and guide to travelers in Ionia, leading them to such places as the Placidium and various monasteries. One day, whilst traveling across the mountains and through the woods, he found himself hopelessly lost. By chance, he stumbled into the Astral Grove, where he met Soraka. The two became fast friends, with mutual feelings regarding aiding others and offering guidance. Seeking enlightenment, Fawn deigned to study under Soraka and began leading the ill and injured to the grove for healing and guidance. As he helped others and worked with Soraka, the stars began to speak to him, and he began developing powers and abilities similar to the Starchild's. In addition, his appearance began to alter, befitting one who has been touched and blessed by the divine.
However, one day, whilst traveling through Ionia, he returned to the Grove to find Soraka gone and the stars lamenting. After communing with them, he discovered that Soraka had left the grove to aid Warwick, only to wind up using the stars' powers for violence, just to wind up betrayed by the man she sought to aid. Fawn was frightened, with his mentor gone, he no longer had a purpose. He deigned to wander Runeterra for a time in search of her. The stars warned him against searching for her, stating that he'd meet a similar fate that Soraka did, but he ignored them. Fawn was not about to let Soraka suffer in solitude. He scoured the wilds and the roads, helping others find their way, healing injured travelers, and seeing much of the land. He traveled through Demacia, Piltover, Bilgewater, and Bandle City. He met Ezreal and shared in some adventures with him, learning how to fight and defend himself. At Ezreal's request, he had a pair of throwing knives, resembling stars, forged for him by Doran. They're simple weapons, but serve their purpose well. Through Ezreal, he discovered that Soraka had joined the League of Legends. Seeking to help return her immortality, Fawn joined as well.
"Everyone gets lost. I'm just here to show you the way." --Fawn
Basic Stats (And Scaling Per Level) --- Level 18 Value Primary Role: AP Support Base movement speed: 350 Base Health/Health growth: 402 (+76) --- 1770 at 18 Base Mana/Mana growth: 220 (+55) --- 1400 at 18 Health Regen: 4.0 (+0.5) --- 11.0 at 18 Mana Regen: 7 (+0.7) --- 19.6 at 18 Base attack damage: 49 (+3.3) --- 108.4 at 18 Attack Range: 550 Attack Speed: 0.635 (+2.8%) --- 1.00 at 18 (somehow, if the math is to be believed, assuming offset of -0.04) Base Armor: 10 (+3.5) --- 73 at 18 Base MR: 30 (+0)
Abilities Passive - Trailblazer: Allied units within a certain radius of Fawn gain 20/22/24/26/28/30 movement speed when moving toward him (1000 Unit Radius, scales every 3 levels). In addition, Fawn automatically matches the move speed of the fastest allied champion within the radius, as long as Fawn remains close to the champion. This bonus does not take into consideration boot enchantments or other abilities that increase movement speed, but it does work with the bonus Fawn gives to his allies through this passive.
Q - Spirit Knife: Fawn throws one of his magically enhanced starknives in a straight line, colliding with the first unit struck and exploding in a small burst of light, dealing (50/90/130/170/210 +50% AP) magic damage to all enemies caught in the radius, slowing them by 30% and granting vision of the surrounding area for 1.5 seconds.
Mana Cost: 50/55/60/65/70 Range: 900 Width: 70 Burst Radius: 200 Cooldown: 7/6.5/6/5.5/5
W - Cosmic Rune: Fawn passively prepares castings that allows him to place a temporary rune that gives vision to the surrounding area and lasts for 30 seconds. The rune requires half a second to prime before it is usable. If Fawn or an allied unit walks over this rune, it is consumed and they are healed for (40/70/100/130/160 +40% AP) HP and gain (15%/18%/21%/24%/27% +5% per 100 AP) movement speed for 3 seconds. Fawn can have up to two Cosmic Runes ready at a time.
Runes have 2 HP and are visible to enemy units for 1 second before going invisible, as Stealth Wards do. Enemy units that move within 300 units of a rune will reveal it and can summarily destroy it.
Allied champions who activate a rune cannot activate another one for 3 seconds.
Mana Cost: 80/90/100/110/120 Range: 850 Radius: 125 Charge Cooldown: 20
E - Astral Light: On Self or Ally cast: Fawn protects himself or his ally with a spell shield made of starlight that lasts for 1.5 seconds, which blocks the next enemy ability used on the target. If the shield is broken by an enemy ability, the benefiting ally gains 30/35/40/45/50% movespeed for 1.5 seconds.
On Enemy Cast: Fawn dazzles his enemy with a burst of light, should they harm an ally. The target is marked with a glowing light that lasts for 2 seconds. If the target hurts an allied champion with an auto-attack or active ability, the mark explodes in a burst of starlight, dealing (50/80/110/140/170 +30% AP) to the target and stunning it for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds.
Mana Cost: 70 Range: 600 Cooldown: 18/17/16/15/14
R (Ultimate) - Planetarium: Fawn bathes an area of the battlefield in a cascade of stars for 4/4.5/5 seconds. During this time, that area is revealed for Fawn's team, and enemy champions in the area are revealed (even in stealth) have their movement speed reduced by (20%/25%/30% +10% AP) while the spell is active. After the spell ends, or if an enemy champion leaves the area, they are continued to be revealed on the map for an additional 4 seconds.
Mana Cost: 100 Range: Global Radius: 1200 Cooldown: 180/150/120 Note: Planetarium counters and can be countered by an enemy Nocturne's Ultimate, Paranoia, depending on who uses which ult first. Planetarium will still reveal its area in Nocturne's Paranoia. However, if Nocturne uses Paranoia after Planetarium, then the area will be concealed as normal.
Playstyle and Appearance
Fawn takes on the appearance of, well, a Greek satyr or Roman faun. Looking like an athletically lean and well built human from the waist up, and from the waist down covered in shaggy tawny fur ending in cloven hooves, with a small, fluffy tail right above his rear. He has ruffled, medium length, golden-brown hair, golden eyes that glow with slight divine radiance, and two curled horns sprouting from the side of his head, just over his pointed ears. His outfit is pretty simple, consisting of a small, simple, brown leather vest and similarly simple leather bracers with leather cord tying them to his forearms. Over his vest he wears a silken shawl with a matching silken wrap around his waist, where his human half meets his bestial half. The shawl is a midnight blue color, and is spattered with glistening sequins that resemble tiny stars. Tucked in his waist wrap is a rolled up map, and he also tucks his starknives (carefully) in it when they aren't in use. Speaking of, Fawn carries two star-shaped knives into battle, forged for him by Doran, and imbued with a fragment of the power he inherited from the Astral Grove.
Fawn plays as a somewhat gimmicky, but scarily effective support who excels at map control, manipulating the movespeed of his allies and enemies, and specializes in engages and disengages in particular. All of his abilities manipulate movement in one way or another, making this wily support and his allies quite hard to catch.
Fawn is designed as a scout, and dare I say, is much better at it than Teemo. His strength comes in creating escape routes, with his W and E allowing allies to recover and engage, re-engage, or safely dis-engage from enemies. Items like Talisman of Ascension and Twin Shadows work well with him, as they further manipulate movement and positioning and mesh well with his scout-like nature as a support.
Tips
Playing As Fawn
- Think carefully about where you place your Cosmic Runes. They work well in brush where an ally is coming through, as the speed boost will help set up an ambush.
-
Astral Light has better uses depending on the situation, use it on an ally if you think they might die, and on an enemy to punish them for or delay potential engages. -
Planetarium is a powerful zoning tool, use it to block enemy escape routes and cover an entire lane during a team fight to prevent or end chases.
Playing against Fawn
- Fawn's Cosmic Rune costs a lot of mana, and can be revealed with a sweeping lens, Pink Ward, or by simply walking near it. Destroy one before Fawn's allies can use it to set him back.
- Fall back if a light appears above your head! Astral Light's mark last two seconds before disappearing, and the stun is not very forgiving should you pop it.
- Fawn is not a very durable champion, though he is quite mobile and good at kiting. If you can bait out his spell shield and lock him down, he'll fall quickly.

Questions, Comments, and Concerns
A new forum will not keep me out of the fight! Fawn's been through the ringer but he's shaping up to be a pretty solid champion and I love it. He's gone through ability changes, lore tweaks, additional quotes and so on. Now if only we can get a Red in here!
Anyway, I still have a few concerns and things I'd like suggestions on. His W, Cosmic Rune, currently can be abused with CDR to get up to 4 Runes on the map at once for a brief time. Honestly, I like that, and it also wrecks Fawn's mana pool, but others might have some say in that. If you have any idea how that ability might work better or in different ways, let me know!
Also, his ult. One of very few that don't deal damage or buff himself or an ally. It's basically a global Gangplank Ult with wider AoE, better reveal, and no cannonballs. Too strong? Too Weak? What do you think?
Anyway. I'm totally open to comments and critique! What do you guys think?
