What if Nullifying Orb was Adaptive?

What if instead of only applying to magic damage, Nullifying Orb applied to the type of damage that pushed a champion below 30%? Curious if anyone would like this idea. I'd like it more on certain champs I play (Rakan & Nunu, probably). Mostly I'd just like to see more physical-only shields, and this was the first idea I thought of.

If you've got another idea for a physical-only shield, I'd love to hear it.

good idea , but you okay with it ? Zed mains will find something else like this and call it broken and spam Zed is weak

If it was adaptive it would become mandatory on every rune page ever, like stop watch was for a while, it'd be way to good as a generalist rune.

Remove the shield and make it give a 5% movespeed boost! summoner 6 [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Is good idea. Curious if that leans too much into why wouldn't it be in resolve tree instead?

why not just make it a shield? like a regular shield.

There's two ways of doing this - first as you said, based off triggering damage. The other way is how Camile's passive works, where the shield is based off what type of damage the triggering attack's champion does more of. Option 1 allows enemies to work around it by procing it with alternate damage, but option 2 provides a more useful shield to the user. (Note, option 2 does still allow enemies to work around the shield by having one player proc it, then other players move in with the alternate damage)

It would be very nice to get this rune a bit more oomph, it seems to be second rate in many cases.

Personally, I think it'd be really annoying to auto attack someone with 10 hp and them get a shield from nullifying orb.

This idea pops up occasionally, and the answer to the thread's title is "because then it would be mandatory."

It'd become too general of a shield, and too effective against most things.

An option would be to base it either off of the user's damage type or the inverse of their damage type, if you wanted to open it up against AD, however.

Even if it became a "must pick rune" it would definetely help with reducing overall dmg and burst, which seems really healthy imo.

I think this is a rune that could replace Overheal in Precision (Physical Shield). If it were in resolve it'd have to be in the same row as Shield Bash so that it wouldn't be abused easily.

It would be pretty nice to be honest to be able to defend yourself toward adaptative source during a game. You face an AD, AD shield. You face an AP, AP shield. The only thing that gate it, is the internal cooldown and it's fair. I support this idea.

It would be fine as a regular shield if not for the fact it would FORCE every marksman in the game to run it

The sorcery tree good on mages? That's preposterous!

Would be cool for adaptive helm to be adaptive. Make it so it works against everything even auto attacks ;3

Does true damage apply to physical damage shields? Because if it doesn't it won't work very well against cammile who will most likely just go through all of it.

So basicly you want to give Camille passive to everyone NO THANKS.
