Why I'm done buying skins
It's simple: my content can drastically change. Before the Fiora VU I had no problem spending real money on RP. I work hard enough to afford skins so I like to buy them. But it is digital content and I'm someone who likes to know my hard-earned money is spent on lasting investments. I never felt cheated or tricked by my purchases with Riot. I've been buying skins for years. But today despite really wanting to buy the Zac chroma I didn't buy it. I couldn't bring myself to do it.
What if Zac gets a VU in a year because Riot doesn't think that he's jell-o enough. So they release his new VU and some people like it and some people don't. Lets say this hypothetical situation goes better than the Fiora VU and the community is split 50/50. And, hypothetically, I'm not one of the people who likes the new visual update. So now, all of a sudden, my purchased content that I spent my hard-earned money on is useless and I'm down the cost of a chroma pack (a little less than $5 I believe).
I guess these drastic changes have always been possible with LoL, I just usually trusted Riot wouldn't mess it up so bad. But now I'm not so sure. I didn't get anything for my money spent on skins after the Fiora VU except a champion and skins that I don't like. Are there any other champs I main that Riot plans on drastically changing? Idk. Maybe. I can't be the only one who is now concerned with what direction Riot is going to be taking with future visual reworks/updates. My money just isn't worth risking on changing content when I feel like even after massive negative fan feedback the change is pushed out anyway. How can I trust a company that doesn't trust it's fans? I can't. I can't trust that Riot won't drastically change another champ.
P.s. - "drastically change" = get the Fiora treatment
P.s.s. - I understand the ToS and how the rights to content work. It doesn't make what happened and what may happen again an okay thing to do (in my mind).
