Does anyone else stay off the boards when riot unveils something? I just feels like people post the same opinion in different posts and only some make good point and some are funny, but alot of them are just copying and pasting what others are saying.
I like when the boards have different posts about different things, but this week has been just fiora and HUD posts. Please, comment in posts that are already on the boards and stop making new posts for the free upvotes.
Daen2 votesSomething interesting to consider here is that the issue you're pointing out (posting threads instead of comments) is probably due to a systemic problem with the Boards. One of the following might be the case:
It's almost impossible to follow comments past a certain point, but threads separate themselves out a bit and make it easier to get into individual opinions. Unless you comment really early in a big thread you are pretty much not going to get anywhere near the activity of a new thread, and to me this is a problem with the platform mechanics rather than player behavior.
Another great example of this is voting, in my opinion. I've seen Pendragon (and others) trying to get us to vote by telling us about how great voting is, but that kind of misses the point; if users aren't using a system, it probably has issues that need to be fixed.

I agree, Whenever I see a post past like 30 comments Im like "whats the point in commenting".
I do see alot of good posts, where people have funny pictures about it, or have new ideas. Im just saying if there are going to be a plethora of posts at least bring something new to the table. People need to stop seeing one post and saying the same exact thing in the post they make

Agreed, but it's a very complex issue. How would Riot go about making comments slightly more efficient than new threads, and what sort of development effort would it take? Would it even solve the problem? Is there some psychology around the idea of contributing to someone else's idea (thread) rather than creating your own that would need to be taken into account?

There lies another issue as well. A lot of the times I see good posts get no views or upvotes, and yet they have good points within them. And yet I go to the hot page and will see some posts with the same material that have alot of upvotes. I think the hot issues are separated into two types of people: those who have concerns/issues they want to air out, and some who see this as an oppurtunity to get board famous. I also know what it feels like to contirbute to someone else post and see your comment get lost in the sea of comments within, but I do enjoy it when the OP comments on what you say.
Cheeseyoger1 votesIndeed, I believe if Riot does find a good solution to this it will have more to do with how the posts are viewed by readers and only be complemented by added technical features.
For example, if comments and replies were indented farther into the page, it would create a clearer visual organization to the topics of conversation. New ideas would tend to be farther left, while discussions and responses to those ideas would fall in a line more to the right of the page. This would make skimming through to find discussions on what you're looking for easier without actually changing any of the forum functions, just its appearance.
On the other hand, hiding reply chains behind "Read More" buttons would have the similar effect of making it easier to skim through just the different discussion topics, and reduce the amount of scrolling needed to do so, but would be a change in the mechanical features in the forum.
I expect the solution will be in finding a way to make looking through existing posts for the information you want to find feel more effective, and to make adding comments to existing posts feel more productive and satisfying as a contribution of your ideas.

The mostly comment on weird things like a funny meme, popular funny post (that isn't shedding light on an issue just a pun or joke), and mostly stuff praising them. People make posts about the lore being non existent and they dont reply, but when saying how good the new graves/tf lore is (which I did myself as well) they come out to say you're welcome and thank you.
