We need to deal with downvote nuking, ESPECIALLY in Concepts & Creations.

So, I made a concept about an hour or two ago. You can see him here if you'd like.

Ten minutes ago, I looked at my concept and it had +3 upvotes. That's pretty good, right?

Ten minutes later I look back and it has ~~-3, -4, -5,~~ -7 downvotes.

I am not the first person that this has happened to.

Literally 75% of concepts (whether shitty or not) I've seen just get downtrodden within minutes-- hardly any time for enough people to look through it and actually downvote it with meaning. I've also noticed several people questioning alternate accounts, and seeing how fast it happens, it seems likely. That's seven downvotes on a concept within 10 minutes. Seven. That's practically unheard of.

Something really needs to be done about it, because it's very very upsetting to know that you've worked on a concept with all your heart for the last 3 days only for someone to spam downvotes on it. I'm not pointing my fingers at any specific individual, even if I have my suspicions, but I definitely think something needs to be done about it.

If people care about concepts and creations, they're going to give it a chance despite the downvotes if the premise looks promising.

Downvotes are just an expression of opinion. Sure, maybe cracking down on alt abuse would help and that would make sense, but overall there's not much to be done about actual downvotes. They shouldn't matter as much as you're making them out to be.

Does every concept thread deserve mass upvotes? No, no they don't. Not all threads are equal. Some people like some things, some people like other things. People are going to disagree with you and not like what you present.

While I wholeheartedly agree, we aren't talking about normal downvotes. We're talking about incredibly fast rates of downvotes that seemingly come from a single person it feels like, as if, per say someone is using alternate accounts.

Nah mate, i didn't say it is his doing. You can't simply say something bad about him, of course he can say whatever he likes, because he have enough alts to generate enough reports to get your comments removed by moderators. You can't simply point out who is downvoting, because then you will get suspended. Of course there is a person, who can say whatever he likes. He can even name other summoners and say that they are downvoting stuff. Any other forum user would be suspended, but not him. I didn't named him, so i think i should be safe, but with 12+ alts in his hands, i think he can make nearly anything to be deleted.

Unlikely. Unless the head mod is lying (he's not), having more than one person report someone does nothing.

Fairly certain that kind of passive-aggressive talk there does count as harassment, though.

Yet, if you say anything like "this person is downvoter with many alts, who downvotes stuff before even reading it" or something similar, your comments will be deleted and your account will be suspended. Got suspended for a day, when i asked why downvotes keeps happening only when he is online.

Honestly, what's simpler to believe? That one guy has ten different alts, all of varying levels of account age and games played and wildly different champions owned and played and mastered, spread out over numerous regions?

Or that everyone is tired of your constant negativity and wants you to stop?

What is harder to believe? One or two haters, who spends their time to level up different alts to play in different regions, and as a bonus to downvote others.

Or that not existent mass of people wants to stop me from creating stuff. For no apparent reason, of course.

Also, this was never more relevant:

A person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person.

Hating, the result of being a hater, is not exactly jealousy. The hater doesnt really want to be the person he or she hates, rather the hater wants to knock somelse down a notch.

Once it's put into perspective, the second option doesn't seem all that far-fetched, but your reasoning for it is rooted in a self-righteous delusion. I'm nobody's alt account, but I do like to pursue and defend what I believe in, and if people happen to agree, that's awesome.

Edit: For the record, I haven't downvoted a single comment on this thread. People have a tendency to repel villainy, and that is clearly at play here - with or without me.

I think I'm getting confused for an alt here, too, when I'm not only not in the same region, but have had this account since season 1 and play a radically different set of champions than everyone else, being an ADC main.

In their defense, I can see some reasons some might not like some of these ideas (strange lore, convoluted mechanics, serious case of tl;dr) but it is still rather rude to just downvote and not give any further explanation why or feedback on how to make it better. Plus from what I hear on other posts it's hard to tell genuine criticism from tall poppy syndrome on these boards.

This of course is coming from someone who plans to post an idea for a champ whose kit involves possessing/manipulating minions as soon as I am sufficiently leveled to do so, but still...

In the meantime I could give short critiques later in replying to your list, but if that's not allowed here I can always wait for level 6.

I personally think they should remove downvotes. They serve no purpose. You can still gauge a popularity of a thread/post/comment by the number of upvotes. I see people downvote things because they don't like what it says or don't even take the time to actually read it. If they want to keep downvotes, then you should have to comment in order to cast either a down or upvote on thread. Sure some people will just spam nonsense but then they will get reported and banned and we didn't want them in our community anyway.

Really though, I made a thread asking for tips to imrpove my gameplay. And two people responded and gave some advice but other people downvoted it and didn't even comment. It doesn't even make sense to downvote something like that, if you don't want give me advice, then okay just don't. Why downvote it for literally no reason?

Had to repost it because it got spammed, was at -7 if you check the link I have supplied for you in my post. Another concept I made, Zone, was also downvoted from +9 upvotes to 0 within an hour.

The next one is at +22.

That's been that way for about a week-- I've been getting very good reviews on that champion and also went as far as to show it off to people.

I decided to bump up some of my old concepts just recently-- is there a problem with that?

Not to mention I'm not the only person if you look at Regonas' post.

Honestly, they need to split Champion Ideas (portion no one cares about) from Skin Ideas (portion some people care about) and treat the Champion Ideas like GD, where it only shows up for people that care enough to visit it.

When this topic has come up before, it's been mentioned by a few that they drive-by-downvote anything dealing with Champion Concepts. The best way to protect those concepts is to move them away from those players. I think that enough interesting Skin ideas come out of the other side of the board that if there was an "opt into seeing this board" the problem would remain. So the solution has to be split the board and hide it from those that don't want to see it.
