Boards are dead, where did everybody go?

Despite the new boards actually being an improvement over the old (I truly do think that), everybody seems to have jumped ship like rats since Riot shut down GD. My question is, where did everyone go? I used to come here to chat with people about vaguely league related content. I know I am not the only one, so did everybody else join a new community for discussing league stuff or did they just give up on it all?

Honestly, since general discussion got taken down my interest in League of Legends has dropped dramatically. I used to play daily and now I have games from September on my 10 game match history. GD kept me interested, kept me talking about the game and being involved in its changes.

Now the only discussions going on are people looking for teams. Heck, even Riot is posting to Reddit instead of the boards. I can't even come here for red posts anymore -_-

Everyone went to reddit. There's very little reason to use the new boards because it's pretty much just a worse version of reddit. They're both the circlejerk format but reddit has about 500 times the people.

because the boards suck and we all very much preferred the forums and we believe whoever thought up the idea of the board should be burned? Brand Will be of great assistance.

The boards are actually busier than they look.

View All boards and filter by Recent to approximate the old forum. At the time of writing, there are 45 threads on the front page and the bottom thread was last updated 13 minutes ago. That's one post every 17 seconds, probably more if some of these threads were updated multiple times in the past 13 minutes.

The problem is that the fragmentation in subforums and the default Hot view conspire to successfully hide most of that traffic from casual view. You have to tinker with your forum settings to see it.

That said, Reddit is much more popular and the boards have few advantages over Reddit, other than having some degree of organisation: you can't run a champion design contest or ask a quick question on Reddit or your thread will immediately get buried. I believe the League community will indeed gradually move to Reddit unless Reddit itself continues its slide into 4chan territory.

GD isn't the only section of boards.

If you think this is 'dead,' you haven't really gotten around, have you? A place does not need to update to-the-minute to be 'alive.'

Boards and forums both have their merits. If I had to make a guess, people are quitting because ever since the turn of the new year, Riot's service has progressively gone to horrible shit. I'm not even trying to smear; the H&S boards are a joke, the Boards Feedback boards are a joke, and anything that doesn't involve passing around memes and giggling like schoolboys and girls are apparently unworthy of Riot's attention.

A remarkable number of people are fed up with Riot getting a fat head over their surge in players and are tired of being put by the wayside because they're not patting reds on the butt as soon as they post and they're not unanimously willing to accept blame for every tech issue.

Frankly, with service like this, it's sort of a miracle they're staying alive. For the first time in my life, I actually hope DotA2 gets a flare in players... maybe Riot will learn something from the experience.

So yeah. Boards aren't the cause, but they sure are inconveniently timed with service issues! Also, has anyone noticed a horrible lack of red presence and stickies?

I think Reddit is just more helpful and more popular

Just answered you're own question, general discussion was great, now riot has a new forums where they claim to listen, but they listen as well as the auto bots that send their ticket posts. For a game that made a billion dollars revenue last year you would think they would get human support....
