Feedback: Comment Splurges/Surges and what to do

Well this server trouble over the last couple of days brings a slight problem to light with this format. the forum is currently overloaded with posts about dcing, about lag, about connection issues.

that's pretty tedious to comb through.

i don't have very many ideas on how to fix this. but would it be possible to hide posts that you've read through or skimmed and don't want to revisit?

just a thought

Doesn't your browser change the color of the links you've already opened? Also, if there are any updates since your last visit, they show up as "1 new".

What would be nice is boolean search, such as --> search for posts with (adc OR balance), but NOT(disconnect OR lag). In other words, advanced search.

it does. but it's computer specific. i use like 3 different computers depending on location. and really it's about actually browsing for me rather than searching. i don't do a lot of searching on the forums.

All in due time! Two features currently being worked on that will help with this are moderation and the ability to choose certain posts to follow rather than the platform just autofollowing everything.

A loooot of the threads in this section are breaking subforum rules, so once the moderation policies are finished I'm sure they'll be moved or deleted as appropriate!

i thought riot was going for self moderation. how is that going to work?

The plan (to my knowledge) is that there will be visible Riot moderation staff that will do some of the heavy lifting like moving/deleting threads. It's possible for this to eventually expand to include community moderators, though I think that's still up in the air.

There is already Riot moderation staff in GD, but the fact they're invisible and don't have the tools to let people know why things are being changed/deleted is a huge issue.
