Hi guys

i couldn't find any more recent discussions than the one you had several months ago. and i was just wondering if there had been any progress on the issues you raised. (for those that haven't read the thread see below)

http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?p=35559365#

it's a really good discussion. though i'm not sure if they got what they wanted out of it. for me since, i view normal games as practice and ranked games as the real thing for me this is more of interest in ranked because those games matter. and the others have no consequences.

the rest of this is tl;dr; but if you feel like it, go for it.

looking through the thread i didn't see any one prevalent solution favored over others. i personally prefer the 'take 'called it' out of champ select' by having everyones preferences presented in chat at the start. but as you said, it doesnt' necessarily cause the core issues. however it is the simplest solution. i don't like option 3 because i don't think it helps enforce good behaviors necessarily (though tests would show the truth, maybe, how do you perform such a social experiment?, do you do it blind or do you tell people and see how they react? maybe both, anyways sidetracked) option 1 could bring back the constant lobby leaving from the old days. (that was not fun people, i don't wish it on us again) option 2 was one i've discussed previously and if it doesn't affect queue times too much it could be fine.

but none of those addressed the core issues.

promoting teamwork - because like wards, it wins games. discouraging toxic behavior while promoting good behavior (sportsmanship, they should just hand out unsportsmanlike conduct penalties like in hockey lol, that's a joke, if only it were that simple)

and i saw one question that you asked over and over and i didn't really see a fixed response

is it role that you want? or to be able to play your favorite champion? so i thought i'd take a whack at that today on the off chance you read this thread. ha. at the very least some senior member will probably point me to a more recent post of yours.

speaking for myself, i'm not that partial, when i play ranked i want to play the best game i can. with the champs i'm most comfortable with. which is why i'm playing very few ranked and improving that champ pool. it's the only way currently to move up and get good. endless practice and if i can get friends to play with me, then duo queue is one less likely to have a leaver/rager

my friends however. they seem more interested in playing specific champions. well two or three of them anyway. one is a guy who doesn't play often now (married with kid) but loves certain champs and the other has played most of his 400 games on 3 champs. he likes the champs, but they are only played in a couple of positions. so yeah. on the other hand i have one friend who almost exclusively bot lanes. he only really plays adc, that's pretty much all he played on dota, and all he's really played in LOL and if he could, he probably would only play bot lane, gotta love blitz.

so i think, ultimately, the reason you didn't seem to get a straight answer to your question (which you probably already know) is that it's both. i mean don't get me wrong. i love my favorite champions, but since i started i've moved onto having many fav's lux, rammus, blitzcrank, xerath, orianna, jarvan iv, corki, kog maw, blitzcrank, janna, nami, shen, diana, sion, kennen, nidalee, jax

and ill play the champs in whatever gameplay, whatever meta develops.
