Honor and Seasonal Rewards

I'm just trying to nail down exactly how honor rating will effect season end rewards. I have a friend who got a chat ban at the very beginning of the year and has been grinding all year with no other bans to try and reach honor two, but he is still honor one. Will he still be able to get his rewards for the season? Will there be a grace period between now and preseason to earn his rewards, since the slow grind puts him out of range of getting honor 2 by seasons end? Also why, since he plays a not insignificant amount, and honors and/or is honored every game, is he still only honor one, with no additional bans or restrictions?

Before anyone asks about me, I've been honor 5 every season since the new system was implemented.

The only requirement, which has been known since the beginning of the season, is the same as last season - You must be Honor 2 to get the season rewards.

He's probably being validly reported in some of his games, but not enough to get punished. That still slows down your honor progress though. If he's been honor level 1 since the very start of the year, he's doing something wrong.

There will be no grace period this year and presuming he does not get honor 2 in the remaining few days, he will be ineligible for season rewards.

The grind is absolutely not anyone’s fault other than your friend. If your friend was playing somewhat regularly (7-10 games per week on average), they would be much higher than honor 2 already. This is unless they’re still misbehaving in games.

Behavior that is not frequent or severe enough to merit another punishment can certainly still slow his honor progress.

Havent heard or read anything mentioned by Riot of a grace period happening this year, like last year. I could be wrong though.

Is he honoring folks? Is he frequently getting honored? If he is handing out honors, and getting frequent honors back in turn, it multiplies.
