Problem with the current champion select

Disclaimer: I did not create this to rant about "my team always sucks" nor "rito sucks". I'm just making this post to bring light to this. This is an actual issue. I bet the community can come up with some great ideas.

Hi, I never thought I'd be posting anything here but I feel like this is a real problem and we need to address. We've all experienced this countless times, you go into a game. Maybe you want a cretin role, or maybe you want to fill, doesn't matter. You go into champion select, you call your role (or fill). Up to this point everything is going well, but then things go downhill. And when I say downhill I mean things go at a 90 degree angle, straight down. You all know exactly what I'm talking about.

It is frustrating when you know you'll lose before the game even started. I feel like people have too much control in champ select, since in-game they can make up any story, especially if they are duo, and the other team won't even know what to believe. Hell, some people won't even speak and just lock in the champion the want, leaving you with nothing to do other than dodge and wait 5 mins, and then dodge when it happens again and quit league for the day. They curse, they troll, the intentionally feed, "my main account is diamond 1", and they only say that to get what they want. This happens all the flipping time.

I don't have a solution to this, I'm just making this post to bring light to this. this is an actual issue. My initial idea was to have a vote-kick in champ select, which will just kick the person from champ select and replace him with a new one. If people are together on Skype and they kick you for not agreeing with them that's good, because then you don't need to dodge. Please post any potential solutions to this, or any comment you might have.

It might surprise you to know that most players don't like reporting just because someone asks them to. Granted, it does happen at times, but since only one report is needed to flag a game, asking for reports is considered harassment and those players open themselves up to getting reported and punished.

Riot know stuff like that happens and designed the system to protect solo players from gang reports. If a premade gets together and convince enemy players to report you? It still counts the same as if one person reported.

As far as dealing with people trolling champ select? I'm not entirely sure as to what would be the most effective. What I do know is that last I heard, there are no plans to add a vote-kick to the champion select process.

Few things I want to bring to light.

  1. "Pick Order should not be the first thing players turn to in determining who plays what role in ranked games."
  2. "Pick Order is meant to be a last resort when settling discussions - this is why we are endorsing it and not mandating it."
  3. "If you refuse to communicate with your team and rely only on Pick Order to determine your role selection, you are still being a toxic player and this will reflect negatively upon you."
  4. "The short answer is it won't be strictly enforced. We want to create an environment that encourages collaboration when creating team comps. Strict enforcement here could potentially obstruct that. However, in the event that somebody is breaking the Summoner's Code in champ select, players can use the existing reporting tools like the tribunal."

On a personal note some players enjoy having a niche/main/routine and have devoted much time and effort in team builder to improve their skills and switch to ranked play to test themselves against others in a more competitive atmosphere. However I find that too much communication tends to start a ever expanding downward spiraling conversation and opt to communicate in non traditional means like a summoner name change (Try asking me what lane I hope to go when I select Pantheon without feeling foolish).

I do not agree with players who ("They curse, they troll, the intentionally feed, "my main account is diamond 1", and they only say that to get what they want.")

I feel the same way about "We've all experienced this countless times, you go into a game. Maybe you want a cretin role, or maybe you want to fill, doesn't matter. You go into champion select, you call your role (or fill)."

I found that having 2 accounts allows you to be able to attempt 4 games without enduring the 30 minute wait time (main account first try, alternate account first try, main account second try 6 minutes should expire while in queue and champion select on alternate account, alternate account second try 6 minutes should expire while in queue and champion select on main account). If you only have a single account you have to waist time for the 6 minutes and immediately jump to the static 30 minutes.

I agree with "this is an actual issue."

I find that many players (on my team) will ban or pick my desired champion and point out they are doing it to "punish me" for not having the same methodology as them (in far less polite words) when I try and negotiate or reason with them.

Finally I would like to add that I have played several thousand games like this in a row and have had no issues with player behavior bans or chat restrictions or ranked play restrictions and successfully earned my behavior icon on both accounts despite being told I will be reported in almost every game I play. I do not wish to cause anyone discomfort and always try and perform at my best but can not always oblige everyone when there are so many personal opinions clashing in solo queue.

P.S. Running with two middle lane champions does not seem to be very effective but have made it work on countless occasions, but would prefer an alternative to all the heart ache that pours out in the average champion select screen (where both parties can get what they want).

Solution.... use team builder mechanics in solo queue and leave ranked teams as is (or something in this direction).
