Things I would rather see Instead of Perma-Banning Accounts

-Permanently Chat-Restricted for remainder of the season And for those who are still toxic while chat restricted -Banned until end of season

For me and for a lot of other players, being chat restricted was the one thing stopping us from being banned from the game. It was the only tool that actually helped shape our behavior and that we actually agreed with being in the game. Some people even begged Riot to just permanently chat restrict them so they would stop being toxic. And I suppose it is easy to simply say "Just stop being toxic". But the issue is far more complicated than that. Players have invested a lot of time and money into league of legends and it is self evident that they do not want to see all of that go down the drain. Yet even while being aware of imminently being banned, players still choose to be toxic. Why? Well my take on it is that player judgment is in fact clouded while under the influence of toxicity. The consequences, the awareness of other players and their feelings, all of it is simply pushed aside while in a toxic state, and it isn't until after their actions are done can they truly reflect on what had happen. It wouldn't be wrong to even suggest a 30 minute cooldown timer for players who were reported in their previous game for toxic behavior. Riot should invest in more safeguards that actually allow players to reform, rather than a system that is designed to inevitably perma-ban accounts, which in my opinion, is ignoring the issue entirely. These banned players are simply creating new accounts and it is actually contributing to the perpetual toxicity in the game. "I don't care, I will just make a new account" has become a justification for players to continue being toxic. Once riot has taken their main account, their time, their skins, their rewards, they have nothing else to lose. And they certainly aren't going to spend more money on the game just to lose it again. So it is for this reason, they simply make a new account to get their fix of league of legends, but ultimately do not reform in behavior. This is why i urge riot to stop perma-banning accounts and to instead take a new approach on how to further reflection on behavior, and to continue to add minor rewards for good behavior. Because taking something away as punishment only works if you are not taking everything. As long as there is still something to lose, Riot will have the upper hand on bargaining with players to urge them to reform.

I could go on for hours about this, so please discuss below.

How many chances should someone get? After the 3rd warning, will 5 more actually do anything if they know it will never be the last one?

Thats not how it works. YOU ae the only that dictates whether you get banned or not. You cant blame your lack of self control on Riot not chat restricting you. It's 100% your fault.

Keep bans.

If you have a problem with toxic chat, hide your damn chat off the screen. Press enter, drag the right hand side of the chat window off the left hand side of your screen, problem solved.

While I agree that a lot of people get caught up in the moment at the same time it should still occur to somebody that they shouldn't be creating a negative environment for other people, this is a team game and you should be thinking about your teammates not just your own personal position.

That being sat chat restrictions don't stop people just being toxic in the game instead which is way harder for regular plays to ignore and as for vanning them until the end of the season they will just create new accounts to smurf on not learn their lesson and go right back to it when they get their main account back.

There are things you can do to help stop yourself from being toxic if you're a toxic person {by you I don't mean the op specifically but whichever player is toxic and worried about their account}

  1. Mute everybody - If you have issues being able to talk to strangers in a manner that isn't deemed toxic or ignoring players that are toxic then just mute everybody, this will stop you from having their interactions and will make you a lot less likely to rage at them

  2. Move/hide your chat - You can't access the chat you won't be able to use it to be toxic.

  3. Think about your words and actions - While this is the hardest to do if you're naturally argumentive, aggressive, hot headed it really is the beat option in the long run. Think about what you're saying before you press enter, think about whether it's adding anything useful/positive to the game. (Are you explaining to somebody why they could Ward a spot for better vision or are you just telling them their warding sucks?) Is what you're saying needed? (Do you really need to tell the top layer that flashed too early that he flashed too early?) Does it comply with Riots rules? If your comment doesn't meet your own personal inspection don't send it.

If people really cared that much about their main accounts/what they have spent on them/the house they put into them then the first three warnings that a player gets should be more than enough to have that player reform if they are going to, those that don't usually aren't going to reform at all and there for are being removed from the game

They tried this, didn't work out. They just became more toxic and would int.

Also, why should I be punished by having a team mate who can't speak because you're toxic?

Banning at the end of the day is a punishment and riots way of telling you they don't want you here

So why would riot change their mind about wanting people they already said they don't want here sorry for the late edit farming in overwatch XD

I don't agree with this due to the ill intent of these players. These players were removed out of the game for a reason. Because they could not get the hint that these offenses are not tolerated. So why give them another chance when they used it all up in the first place? They had plenty of time on reflecting on their attitude, especially with the 2 weeks ban. I know I wouldn't want these players back in our community. With that said, I don't see any reason for giving them another chance, just to give them another chance at ruining another player's experience.

Why? All that's going to make is that toxic brats will be rewarded by having their chat muted off while they can continue behaving the way they do without repercussions, and now their team have to deal with a toxic teammate who can't even look at chat.

There's such a thing called stupid ideas.

op i very much disagree keep perma bans

IMO they need to be harsher with perma bans. If actually you get to that point you really don't deserve the privilege of being here.
