The only thing that actually gets me...

Is that 'stat' people keep posting about on the ban screen, that 'They are one of the 0.006% of players to be permanently banned'. It's sort of funny when people post their permanent ban messages and then that percentage pops up. I went over to my local University and several of the league players (SOME ARE GRADUATE STUDENTS, these are not simple bad tempered hormone infected teenagers, folks) have been permanently banned.

When you can randomly run into a bunch of university students seeing you playing League in the mess hall or student lounge and someone starts talking how "they got banned"...makes you wonder about that 0.006% of players. But then again there are lies, damned lies and statistics. I guess that includes anyone who rolled an account, got to level 5, and uninstalled too.

Checkmate, I lose the internet award for the day. BTW kiss your Net Neutrality goodbye. Soon your ISP will charge you to read these forums :/

Education does not reflect mental development or the personality/behaviors they present in the game.

I don't think the .006% figure is accurate either, but that's just a hunch. I don't think we have the tools to actually dispute it with any reasonable certainty.

It's VERY hard to get banned in League. If you're on the border of Riot's view of acceptable behavior and cross that line, you get three distinct punishment tiers before reaching the perma stage, which is plenty of time to figure out where the disconnect is and to correct one's behavior. Even somebody who thought overt hate speech and death threats was acceptable gets a 14-day ban before a perma.

I don't accept that behavioral bans just "happen". If you're meeting multiple university students that have been banned... maybe they're not nearly as mature as they present themselves to you.

Well when someone is the head of a science or math department or the secretary, or doing some other management duties...I would think that requires maturity. It's not about maturity when human nature is involved and people have to act in very unnatural ways due to a game that puts people in situations they are not used to, with people who hate each other.

We're not talking about playing on 5 man premades here, which League is designed for. We're talking about pubbing.
In Quake 1, Quake 2, Q3, UT, if you didn't like someone on a server, you just leave. In CS, if you didn't like someone, you just leave (or if you're on a moderated dedi server, they just get kicked). This game requires mental contortions from people unhead of in other gametypes (besides DOTA2). Even blizzard games dealt with this by preventing people from using normal chat.

The only other games in existance which had games which lasted this long and required this much teamwork were the old Battlefield games. Including dealing with some of the tank spawn camping slugfests and trolls blowing up your planes with those world war 2 RPGs (forgot the names) because they didn't like you. And even then, you could just LEAVE the server. Or you could play on CAL or whatever "teamwarfare" league was called, with premades and avoid all of that.

Heh I wasn't even trying to bring up this topic actually :) I was trying to poke satire at the 006% "statistics" number, rather than human nature, but I guess I did ask for it! :)
