7.1 ingame Client overriding desktop refresh rate, forcing maximum possible, causing issues!

•Server: NA

•Type of Bug: Leagueoflegends.exe using maximum refresh rate, not desktop refresh rate

•Description: In this 7.1 patch, League of legends is forcing the maximum refresh rate available, instead of the current refresh rate set on the desktop. This is unusable on my system as it forces 240hz refresh rate, causing artifacts on a Benq XL2540, 165hz refresh rate on the Asus 165hz monitor, causing scanlines to appear, and 144hz refresh rate on a XL2720Z, when I have my desktop set to 100hz. Ever since original beta and season 1, League has always used the DESKTOP refresh rate. Now it's enforcing the highest refresh rate available to windows with no way of overriding it without deleting the custom extension block and creating a custom resolution with a lower refresh rate. On a Benq XL2720Z, I have a preset 100hz desktop refresh rate with a 1500 Vertical Total via custom resolution to reduce strobe crosstalk and a 125hz refresh rate (again with a VT 1500 tweak), but as of this patch, it ignores what I set and forces 144hz anyway, which I don't want to use. This bug has never happened before.

•Video / Screenshot: N/A

•Steps to reproduce: Launch the game and see.

•Expected result: League of Legends.exe should use the DESKTOP REFRESH RATE only, NOT the maximum refresh rate!

•Observed result: League ignores the desktop refresh rate and forces maximum refresh rate which is not desirable for people who don't want 240hz, 165hz or 144hz.

•Reproduction rate: 100%

•System specs: 6700k, 16 GB Ram, Windows 7 SP1, G900, various monitors.

Bump. The same problem is probably affecting me. After the patch today, I immediately noticed my screen freezing a lot while in game, with weird glitchy horizontal lines appearing across the screen. I play on the new macbook pro, and as I have heard apple's desktop refresh rate cannot handle this.

What does this cause in game?

Same here, but in my case I have forced 120Hz in Nvidia controls over HDMI. My particular HDTV supports this, but only reports 60Hz max. So when it sets it to max it is actually dropping my refresh in fullscreen mode from 120 to 60.

Bump.

Game is unplayable in fullscreen mode @ 144Hz on Acer XB270H (monitor reports that it supports it, but shows garbage scanlines). Only playable in windowed mode, which causes problems with some menus (I cannot scroll down while spectating, other applications are sometimes grabbing the focus - a few times I got killed because of this).

It had been very nice with an option for changing monitor hz in game or in game.cfg.

Possible cause for out of range problem. Most likely. I even tried old as shit app "refreshlock", but no success. Guess, I have to try more apps with refresh rate override and see.

p.s. Sigh Out of range monitor problem been for like 4 months already and only thing that riot can offer is to play in borderless/windowed "fps drop fest" mode. [zombie-brand-clap]

I don't know if you still have the problem but I used a program called CRU and basically deletes the resolution that uses 75 hz that league keeps forcing you to play with and that should fix it!

I recently finished a new setup and have a 144hz display, but my thunderbolt dock only can output at 120hz so I have it set like this in my display settings but when I launch league in full screen mode it forces the screen to 144hz and causes vertical lines on the side of my screen and the game is unplayable. I realize this is an older thread, but its the only thing i can find that seems similar. Did anyone find a solution to get fullscreen mode to work properly?
