Giving your account to someone to play your placement matches for you

So I played my games at the beginning of the ranked season, went 7/3 or something, got placed in bronze 4. Yet my friend who was the same rank as me last season, went 5/5 and got placed in silver 5. She literally gave her account to a friend to play on and get her to silver 5. She even admitted it. I'm calling bs on the system there.

No, call BS on your friend for breaking the rules. You should send a support ticket and report her, not whine to us on the boards where nothing will happen.

If you have Ranked before, then your MMR is already based on that. Someone who is new will have better initial MMR than someone who was in low Bronze last season.

I went 2/8 and got placed Silver 2.

Point being, there's a number of factors in placements besides just initial rank and w/l. If you feel like she cheated and wish to report her, you’ll want to direct this to Riot Games Player Support by submitting a ticket! Otherwise, I expect the system is working as intended, as far as her worse win loss still placing her higher.

In fact, it's likely that if the player on her account was much better than she is, the game's smurf tracker would have caught on in two or three games, and then every game after that would have been at a substantially higher MMR. If this happened, each win would be worth more towards a higher placement.
