Can I Report People for making stereotypical statements Regarding Yasuo?

report yasuo··4 votes·839 views

Almost every game I play Yasuo I get hit with that stereotypical Yasuo where sometimes they even ban my Yasuo when I hover him, saying shit like "all yasuo's feed". And throughout the game they say "typical Yasuo", and "classic Yasuo main". This occurrence happens almost every game and is completely unacceptable and is hate speech!

I think the only hating that is allowed is hating on a Champion.

If I despise a champion in all its forms (my team, enemy team, tanky, etc) - in your example, Yasuo - then I am well within my rights as a fellow summoner to see to it that I never see that Champion in my draft games.

Yeah, it's a dick move, but we're allowed to do it.

Likewise, if someone HATES playing with or against an Alistar, they have every right to ban him. And if they do (it happens) I suck it up and play another champ - EVEN if I've hovered the cow.

Now, if someone tells me they ALWAYS ban Alistar, am I going to add that person to my friends list? Nope.

If your main gets banned, don't you just pick a secondary (or tertiary) champion for your role?

Still trolling and still immature as usual, I see. Your history of posts on here has been nothing but trolling and being childish.

Like how you keep stalking me instead of getting over it speak for yourself LOLOLOL

Recognizing your name is not that complex. But maturity is beyond your comprehension.

"hate speech" lol what?

report yasuo1 votes

"speech expressing hatred of a particular group of people" , "all yasuos are bad" I think it most definitely is! It also is discrimination!

FlyingRoboticCow3 votes

I'm not sure if you're trolling or just exceptionally dense.

God damn it I took the bait zzzzzzzzz well played

First off this isn't hate speech, Second if they want to ban him even when you're hovering him that's their choice it's their ban to do what they please with and isn't reportable, third if you don't like being stereotyped as the typical yasuo then don't play like one, fourth if you are incapable of playing in a way that isn't the stereotypical yasuo then mute everyone so you can't hear them making those comments.

report yasuo1 votes

Everytime you die they say u want me to get 0 deaths in a game and how the hell is it not hate speech the definition is "speech expressing hatred of a particular group of people" so how the hell is saying "All Yasuo's are bad" not hate speech?

fatherdarius1 votes

Yasuo isn't a 'people'. He's a digital character in a fantasy world.

Unless you think League characters are real.

The Tick had a lot of crazy ideas too. Didn't really hold him back at all. :D

report yasuo2 votes

I am talking about Yasuo mains not the actual character?

Shahamut2 votes

We live in a very "legalistic" society, and so defining things is very important and also frustrating since it can vary from person to person...

Though I think you would struggle to define the behavior as "hate speech" (see your thread responses) I would say without a doubt that the continued badgering of you during game would certainly qualify as harassment, which, if I'm not mistaken, is a reportable offense.

fatherdarius1 votes

Good point, good post. Upvoted.

fatherdarius1 votes

Ah, I see what you're saying man. Sorry I misunderstood. :D

Yes, they can hate on Yasuo all they want.

If they're hating on YOU because Yasuo's your main, they're just being Jerks. Report 'em!

:D

I despise Yasuo as a champ and some of their players, but even I am triggered by this comment after the first sentence.

No, your allies shouldn't just ban your hovered choice for no legit reason such as to deny enemy first pick, because that's clearly an act of griefing.

Also no, the rest of your comment is literally victim blaming. What, are you telling me the problem is not people spreading stupid stereotypes and abuse the others but the victim being just so happen to conform the laundry list of stereotypes in some way?

It's almost just like black people and Asian guys and some others who literally can not escape stereotypes no matter what they do because there's one for every possibility already, whether they're sporty, not sporty, well-cultured, not well-cultured, well-gloomed, not well-gloomed, etc etc etc, a Yasuo players also can not escape the toxic stereotyping because the gigantic list of stereotypes has all possible outcomes covered. But I supposed it's not the fault of toxic stereotyping but the people who fell victims to such an abuse?

My second point is basically a direct quote from riot so your argument is with them not me if you want any of the many times they've said it google "banning my hovered champ" that should get you plenty of responses. Third I'd be inclined to agree with you if this nob head wasn't comparing yasuo mains to African Americans, if you don't see the difference between a racial group that has suffered for hundreds of years and fought hard and long for basic human rights and a group of people who could simply hit a mute button then idk what to tell you.

I have not been successful in locating Riot's official response on "friendly ban", personally. Even if they did say that, I'm more inclined to believe they mean it within the context that the friendly ban is within strategic reasons rather than personal/interpersonal, because otherwise that's greenlighting griefing; and I'm sure Riot is well aware that many people use this method to tilt their teammates which leads to the fact how many people simply don't hover nowadays.

FlyingRoboticCow1 votes

It's not griefing, what I said is (to the best of my memory) almost word for word what they said. It's that players ban to do with as they please. They had to say it multiple times when the 5 man ban system came out because of people complaining about it.

It kinda sucks that Riot takes that stance on a champion pick. I've always felt banning someones intended champion should be treated as "trolling" or "assisting enemy team". At the very least be ban-able if it happens a few times. It does happen to us Yasuo players way too much. We go to pick him, and without a second thought the team-mate bans him 'cause "all Yasuo's feed." They don't bother checking your stats, they just ban. It's rather forced me to play more powerful champions lately though... who for some reason don't get banned.

Toxicate133 votes

It's not hate speech lol. Don't have yasuo in your summoner name. It makes you look like an asshole tbh. And then the enemy can see that you main yasuo and just camp you or focus you and your team will flame

report yasuo1 votes

It sure is hate speech, the definition is, "speech expressing hatred of a particular group of people" are you not expressing hatred to Yasuo mains with all the memes and comments throughout the game. It's also discrimination. So why is it that every time I report I never get the instant feedback?

Umbral Regent5 votes

Hate speech is speech which attacks a person or group on the basis of attributes such as race, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, disability, or gender.

Googled "Hate Speech Definition". This is what I got.

You're acting like hate towards a specific videogame character is racism or something of the like, and god's honest truth, that's just asinine. It isn't okay for them to insult you, so if you do report them, they will get punished.

On the subject of not getting the instant feedback pop-up - it's exceedingly rare, with a lot of conflicting opinions on the prerequisites for it showing up. You're better off not counting on it to tell you whether or not someone got punished.

report yasuo1 votes

It's hate speech to the players of Yasuo not Yasuo himself the attitude and disrespect is the same as I take as a black man living in America, and I can't even play a game without this kind of treatment?

FlyingRoboticCow1 votes

ok now i know you've got to be trolling

Umbral Regent7 votes

If I may ask; why are you arguing that insults and so on about Yasuo players is hate speech when your summoner name is in and of itself part of the whole "hate on Yasuo" meme? If hating against Yasuo is racist, then you should really consider changing your screenname.

EvilDustMan3 votes

Maybe don't have 'report yasuo' as your name.

SEKAI2 votes

It's more of a "only wussies like strawberry flavoured ice cream" or "only aliens like Hawaiian pizza".

Doesn't mean they're right in spreading negativity and stereotypes like that, but I wouldn't call it a hate speech.

FlyingRoboticCow2 votes

Also based off of your win statistics with the champion you should probably never play the champion again because you don't even meet the standards of the stereotypical yasuo player, I mean come on 18% win rate and a negative kda on your main? find a new main.

ModPeriscope2 votes

No.

Edit: The question you've put forward is "where do we draw the line for hate speech?"

I think this is an erroneous stretch for defining hate speech.

-race, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, disability, or gender. In other words, things that involve how you were born or things that affect your every day life. To equate hatred of Yasuo with discrimination of blacks

It's hate speech to the players of Yasuo not Yasuo himself the attitude and disrespect is the same as I take as a black man living in America

is beyond reproach.

SavageConcordia2 votes

Given that you have an 18% win rate and a .85 KDA on Yas I can't fault your team if they aren't wrong.

zPOOPz1 votes

of course, you can report anyone for anything. The option is always available after game

Whether that report is valid or not is a different story. But that decision is out of your hand

Ahri Baka1 votes

Ignore the comments about your name Actually yeah , you can report it for hate speech , it's kind of racist you know , hating a champion , I'm serious btw , when I tried to play Yasuo , people harassed me a lot.

Also , ignore the downvotes , I mean , there is no way that " a fu**ing Yasuo main " isn't counted as hate speech or Verbal Abuse , The problem many of those with Yasu-phobia have been collected here

Why does yasuo hasakey if he's a homeless gintama fanboy?

invisiblecat11 votes

If they ban Yasuo even though you hovered over them, then I think it is okay to report that However, it isn't really hate speech for saying "All Yasuo's feed," but rather is a harmless stereotype

AmWhaleIRL1 votes

Like it or not, a majority of the community hates Yasuo. Not "Dislike", HATE. We fucking DESPISE Yasuo. But I have nothing against you as a person, I don't know you. But in 2018 I vowed to not let another Yasuo ruin my game ever again. So you can bet your ass I'm banning that shit if you hover it. I thank God everyday that Riot put in a 10 ban system. I'm never playing with that stupid champion ever again.
