I see people "troll" ever 2 or 3 games. It ends up ruining the game for myself and the rest of the players. Its not only in this game but in just about every competitive game I have played.
I'm looking for a solid answer to this. Why troll? What are the benefits of trolling?
Is it some moral superiority complex thing, early childhood problems, or are people just doing this for plain "shit n gigs".

The high schoolers are not in school right now so they are being very immature and rude in games. Over the summer and winter break, toxicity is at a very high rate. I don't care if anyone sits here and tells me that high schoolers are not the reason, i play ranked only when the kids are in school. The parents don't care about parenting their children and Riot allows immature teens to get away with toxic behavior.
These people have no lives and find it is funny to act this way.

I honestly don't believe this is just high schoolers. When I first started playing league I played at a local gaming center. I played with gamers of all ages and surprisingly the younger kids end up being more mature than the guys in their 20's +.
I agree with number two. I think its similar to a fetish. People just like to act this way and probably didn't learn any better.
I also think trolling in any form is a cop out for being ignorant. By definition ignorant: "lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated." Most players are uneducated about league and how to play high percentage gameplay. In-game people lack awareness of whats going on in a multitude of situations. Also the way these people type in chat is would seem they're very unsophisticated.
Nobody wants to admit being bad or making a mistake. Next best thing is to troll in and attempt to distract your team from the reality of your own embarrassment.

My definition is "mucking around, and not being super serious". Stuff like urgot support or morde jg (recently used in LCS as well!) is fun and kids works in low ELO, as game knowledge is what propels you ahead at those levels.
It gets boring playing Leona / sona every game.

Intentional trolling is to muck around, not be super serious and exasperate a situation with intent. Unintentional trolling is to muck around, not be super serious, and not have knowledge of your actions; ignorance.
Example for intentional: Playing AP Tryndamere with pre-existing knowledge that there is a high percent chance your team will lose because of you. Example for unintentional: Playing AP tryndamere becaue you saw a guide online making you assume it was highly viable.
Example of intentional: "Feeding" the enemy team because you got called out for playing poorly and you can't admit your mistakes Example of unintentional: "Feeding" the enemy team because you got called out for playing poorly and didn't understand your mistakes.
The examples are very close and its kind of a gray area. If you're intentionally trolling you're just being an asshole for no reason and you know it. If you unintentionally troll you're skull is too thick for you to understand what you're doing.

It is farrrrrrrr from META, thats for sure. But not ever game is required to be a super serious game.

SmokedAlmonds1 votesUnintentional trolling is not a thing. Intent is a required aspect of trolling. Anyone not doing something with the intended purpose of upsetting people is not trolling. Someone making a decision you don't like is not trolling unless they made that decision because you don't like it.
It is why trolling is such a hard issue to deal with. When you are trying to judge if someone is trolling or not you are judging their intentions, not their actions. If someone picks AP trynd with the intended purpose of winning then it isn't trolling. With your definition of trolling anyone choosing a champion other than the #1 champion in each role is trolling.
The difference between intentional feeding and feeding is simple. Intentional feeding is dying for the purpose of helping the other team/griefing your own team. Unintentional feeding is just a derogatory way of saying losing. Intentional feeding has somewhat expanded to include extremely negligent play which is essentially playing so poorly that it is indistinguishable from trying to lose.
PersianShinobi1 votesWhenever I intentionally feed in a game it's because I get super pissed at a teammate for whatever reason (usually shit talking back and forth) and decide it's not worth playing to help them anymore.

The Fuzzy 0ne1 votesHonestly... I know people who troll on their other accounts so that they can tank their MMR and be able to play with their lower elo friends. In ranked anyways. In norms I'll admit I "troll" but it's really just to try something unconventional and have fun when you're on a losing streak or to brush off particularly toxic players. Or even to try to get untilted. I've also seen some people using friend's or siblings accounts just to get to them.
It's just unfortunate some players get hit in any of the above crossfire.
