Getting Automatic Notifications for False Reports -- How Long?

Let me preface this by saying that I know rito says that you cannot get banned for false reports. I am not worried about being banned as a result of these false reports. I understand that the "warnings" are automatic and that they only happen if you get reported frequently or whatever... To my question... Gonna be a little long..

We all know premade groups and/or toxic players like to use the report system to bully people who suck/have a bad game/are toxic themselves. They will report someone for Verbal Abuse and Offensive Language just so that they will get a warning. This is an abuse of the system, and rito has said that it is punishable. However, the punishment (if rito is to believed, and this behavior will actually be punished) is an intangible drop in the weight of your reports. This does not matter to the abusers; all they want is for the person they dislike to receive a warning - a final slap in the face, sent officially to you, by rito, from the abuser in question.

I have been toxic in games. I have both retaliated to toxic behavior and instigated toxic behavior in games. I have done things that are report worthy. As a result, I have received those automatic warnings. I have never been banned. From what I understand of the automatic notifications, because of my past behavior, I will still receive these automatic warnings, warranted or not, because the system sends them out based on overall report history, not individual game.

Finally getting to my question:** how many clean, 100% silent games do I need to play while receiving these vindictive offensive language reports before I will no longer receive these warnings?** Currently, I am trying to get level 5 mastery on a bunch of different champs, champs that I am not necessarily good at. It is frustrating to get steam rolled and flamed during the game, not say a single thing in the whole game because I know people are going to report me regardless (and getting toxic back will just validate their reports), and then get a notification warning me about offensive language in a game I actually restrained myself. That's my reward for restraining myself? Getting warned about my "offensive language"? That's not a reward. That doesn't make me want to show restraint. The outcome is the same either way. I can report them back for falsely reporting me, but as mentioned earlier, all that will do (if anything) is reduce the weight of their reports, which doesn't even matter to them anyway!

If I continue to be vindictively reported, how will the automatic system ever tell the difference between me falling back into my own ways? It seems to me like it will just assume that I never stopped being toxic because I have never stopped being reported, so it will just keep sending me the warnings. I don't think rito takes the report abuse seriously. The way it works right now, I do not feel rewarded for showing restraint in games, and there is not reason for abusers to be concerned about harassing others with the system.

I know I usually troll these boards with anti-rito rhetoric, but again, I am tired and frustrated and trying to show restraint here so we can have a real discussion, and I can get some real answers. It's my birthday after all, and it's as good a time as any to try to turn over a new leaf.

Just /mute all and hope for the best.

I'm in a similar situation. I often just play the game and don't speak. The notion of "discussing strategy" with the type of players in LoL Solo Q is a joke, and all you're doing is risking giving your toxic teammate's validity to their reports.

I just "/mute all" every game, but I still often see "offensive language" notifications show up when my team loses.

The report system is broken, it's just a tool toxic players use to harass their teammates. The only way to avoid getting banned is to never ever use the chat room in Solo Q for any reason.

They do not give out that information, as people would use it to 'game' the system to stay under the limit and still be a complete jackass.

Regardless, it doesn't matter if it's a full premade of 4 that report you or a single person, they all count as 1 reported game and as such, it wouldn't matter if all 9 people reported you or just 1, you would still see the automated message because of the report.

Honestly, that automatic 'warning' was a good idea on paper, but it really just makes people paranoid.

Short version: If the system assumed you never stopped being toxic, it would ban you.

Longer version: You already know about the concept of report weight (which btw, can and will very quickly drop to literally zero for false reporters. That's a pretty tangible reduction in my books), so that saves me some lines of text. Let's right now focus on the underlying concept of report weight: The certainty in a report. How high do I estimate the chance that this is a legit report? Now you can create a function to determine the report weight based on this; but you can adjust this function depending on the punishment at hand. Chat restrictions? Drop everything below 80% certainty; then scale the report weight up linearly. Bans? Drop everything below 90% and have a square function scale up. Etc. etc. (these are of course just made up, I don't know the specifics).

The idea is generally that the bigger and the "less reversible" a punishment is, the lower the amount of false positives you'll find acceptable. And that's just the thing: Warnings can be upsetting, but they don't have any tangible effect. They may be a tool for people to harass you, but they'd probably just resort to other ways of doing that. At the same time warnings, even to people that were not really all that toxic might have a positive effect on their future behaviour. That's why with warnings, the function will probably look more like something along the lines of "drop every report below 60% certainty, then consider all above the same weight". That will lead to more false positives, but also to more hits. And since hits have a stronger effect in this case, than false positives, that's okay.

just vbegin reporting everybody back that is remotely annoying or has an attitude problem.
