Why is out-of-match harassment allowed, especially DOX threats?

I've recently been threatened with a DOXing by an enemy that my team stomped (will link match as soon as available). While I don't ACTUALLY believe this threat, it does raise a new concern: Why are people allowed to harass you freely through the in-client out-of-match chat and receive no punishment? I find this kind of mind-boggling that the current system is so strict on how you're allowed to speak to people in-game (I've tried to watch my attitude recently), yet someone that adds you post-game just to throw a tantrum (they don't even have to be successfully added) and be incredibly toxic and spiteful.

Match: My second-most recent Twisted Treeline match as Sion. (Match History is being finnicky, so I'll replace this as soon as I can get it to update.) Player: Yorick (Name withheld) Reported for: Negative Attitude/Unsportsmansly Conduct. Reason: Harassment in the post-game and out-of-match chats. Threatening with a DOX attack. (DDoS and DOX are different) Opinion on Punishment: Temporary or permanent revocation of out-of-match chat service. Temporary revocation of in-match chat service.

I would appreciate someone from Riot to do 2 things: 1) look into this case and investigate this player, and 2) please do something about out-of-match harassment. Please treat it as serious as you would in-game harassment.

I will be sending this in a Support Ticket as well, as I feel this is important. Riot has a great chance to enforce their stance on harassment.

It's not allowed. Just make sure you submit the ticket with any screenshots you may have

Send the ticket to Riot. Just because it might be an empty threat, Riot has better tools to find out--- including any other reports filed against that player.

There's been enough problems from actual doxing that even an empty threat should be reported.

Just know that name-and-shame (posting a player's name in relation to a real or perceived offense) is against board rules, so pleaset don't post screenshots unless you've edited out the names. The unedited screanshot should be included in your ticket.

The ticket process is usually a autoreply saying they'll forward it to the correct department, then a follow-up email letting you know they'll investigate, but can't tell you what, if any, actions are taken.

Is it really true that Riot has no visibility of the pre and post game lobby chats? I always assumed they CAN see it but keep that a secret so idiots continue acting dumb under the illusion of safety.

What's a DOX?

You had to accept their friend request, you probably tried to rub it in his face about the loss and then when he gave you the business... you want to report.
