Are permabanned accounts being unbanned?

Several people on reddit have posted their support tickets showing them getting un-perma'd by Riot support. It seems to be a new thing. I'm not sure at the moment if these are recent permas or older ones.

I always liked Riot's stance on permas - once your account is banned, it's gone for good. I don't like that they would suddenly change this without any announcement. Has anyone seen any real proof of this?

Ever since the IFS was installed, it has been Riot's stance that you can ask for a human review via a support ticket. A very large percentage of these appeals are dismissed out of hand because of the blatant toxicity. They do look through the logs and sometimes decide to give someone another chance, but it's not in any way common.

I'm not aware of any old permas being reversed.

There was a dude who posted pictures that the Riot support asked him questions about which parts of his chatlogs were toxic, and what he would do upon that situation again. Upon a satisfactory answer, they unbanned his account and told him it was final chance.

While I think it's an interesting proposal, I personally would want to see more proof of reform than just a simple Q&A.
