Let's talk about banning someone's hovered champion.

I had a very rude person call me an idiot and a troll for voicing my opinion that I should be able to ban any champion I want. There are what, 140 champions now? I ban this champion so I can have a fun game, and I mostly play normals. I don't like this champion on my team or on the enemy team.

I don't ban this champion to be a dick. I ban this champion because a game is meant to be fun. I, personally, do not have fun with this champion on either team. This is EXACTLY what bans are meant for. They are to allow you to remove champions you don't like from the game.

If someone hovers this champion, I ban it. I tell them, "Sorry, I always ban this champion. You may check my match history for proof." I've even gotten shit for this. If it was Yasuo, I feel like people wouldn't care. But as soon as it is a champion which no one tends to ban, everyone loses their minds. They think I MUST do it to troll them, when really it's just to preserve my own enjoyment of the game.

Yes, I think it's acceptable to ban a teammates champion. They have hundreds of other champions to choose from, and in normals it doesn't matter if you're a one-trick or not. I get ONE ban. Just one.

You ain't Jesus. Just because you want to have fun doesn't mean another player in your team has to suffer. That's not how this game works.

You might be banning the only champion that X guy likes/knows how to play.

That is like assisting enemy team.

Respect people when they pre pick a champion.

Just my 2 cents.

specifically for people like you, i ALWAYS hover Teemo when going support. why? to scan for jerks like you

let's say im supposed to go support and you ban teemo, you also get no heals, leash or help from me! i may also help myself to more of your cs than you would like. the way i figure it is you banning my champion means you're not much of a team player so... as you wish! :)

you dont ban teemo, i pick another support anyway and play normally. your move! :)

I'm very curious how you feel having a certain champion on your team negatively impacts your own personal enjoyment of the game. Playing against, I can see, but this? Can you give an example?

I'm also curious why your own personal enjoyment, rather than your team's likelihood of winning, takes priority. Surely you realize that tilting someone in champ select is going to fuck your chances harder than anything else?

That's really your own prerogative. But straight up banning the same champion, regardless of her effect against your team, seems like a terrible strategy rather than a dislike of the champ.

So if it's normals, why not let people play what they want? Other people want to have fun, not just you. Maybe for them that champion is fun, or they're using normals to practice a champion. Why do you get decide what people on your team can and cannot play?

May I ask what this champion is?

You got so mad you made an entire thread on it. Well, looks like nobody agrees that it is cool to ban a teammate's Jinx pref in a normal so they can't use their cute new Christmas skin they just bought. Satisfied?

Dragneels12/14/2017, 4:06:04 PM3 votes

No one said anything about their picks being above yours. If the questions were reversed, would you be able to answer them? You talk about wanting to play and have fun in normals and you do that by banning a certain champ that you hate to have on both teams, but what if someone on your team also just wanted to have fun in normals like you do with a certain champion, and now they can't anymore because you just banned their desired champion?

You're basically saying that you don't give a fuck about what your 4 teammates want to and can/can't play, as long as /you/ get to have fun and at the same time disregarding the fact that they too just wanted to have fun just like you do, and now they can't do that anymore.

By you getting to have fun, you're sacrificing your teammates desire and ability to have fun. Seems like a dick move to me. Like you should never ban your teammates champions in normals my friend, let them play whatever they want. Win or lose, you have fun. (ONLY APPLIES TO NORMALS, NOT RANKED!!)

Well, since you have a response for literally every point of reason that people are bringing up, I can only conclude that you are extremely self-centered. You have a scenario where you cannot and refuse to experience the same distaste for another's actions that you inflict on someone. Sorry, but it isn't the fact that you're bringing this up, it's the approach you're taking and the fact that you're refusing to accept that anyone might have a valid point about your methods and actions.

"Don't like my ban? Go ahead and dodge, at least it's not me." ^This is literally what you are saying to those people who wanted to play Jinx.

Yet this is what you are saying about yourself: "I would have to dodge every game she is picked."

It is literally the same statement, but you are rationalizing that the game is more fun if you're not the one saying it.

It's self-centered, it's anti-fun. I truly do not see a defense for your actions, even if you claim consistency.

That said, it is your choice to do that. Just don't expect anyone to like you or want to have fun with you....

I always ban Zed. Normals, ranked, whichever; the only exception is if an ally is hovering him. I'll leave the ban honor to the enemy team. Just throwing that out there before anyone accuses me of not understanding the predicament.

Here is where I think your argument falls apart. You’re banning the champ based on what’s fun for you while at the same time destroying fun for someone else. That’s what I don’t like about this.

The only way I could agree with banning someone’s pref champ is if our team didn’t have first pick and it was an OP champ at the time that has a very high pick rate that the enemy team would get before us. That’s really it.

Personally, im all for banning a hovered champ so long as the one im banning isnt in the first 2 spots on our team (because they are pretty much garunteed that champ)

I dont like it though, cause it makes me feel kinda douchy, but im sorry i find it kinda hard to play against the champ, and im not about to risk the enemy getting it.

BUT i only apply this rule in ranked, in norms everyone is all good
