riot games policy

This 4 lines of text I jokingly typed in a TFT game

as riotgames proclaims: PUNISHMENTS GENERALLY FOLLOW A BASIC ESCALATION PATH:

First Offense: 10 Game Chat Restriction Second Offense: 25 Game Chat Restriction Third Offense: Two Week Suspension Fourth Offense: Permanent Suspension

However, it is possible to skip to a Two Week or Permanent suspension based on the severity of the behavior in the game. Excessive negative behavior can result in a Two-Week or Permanent suspension at any time without having a chat restriction on the account.

my previous offence was a year ago and I was never once given a chat restrict, or warning prior to even the first one, or ever. and player support easily bypasses this by judging the "severity' themselves. I wish i could post that past chatlog. since most of the typing that game was in teamchat with a 5-man queue anyway.

https://imgur.com/gallery/BIAXTEg this was what i sent, expecting a quick resolution what they actually replied with is this:

1 abbreviation for a 1500$ account?

this kind of practice is extremely shady. there are people terrorizing ranked queues and they deem this to be the priority to permaban from the game.

since they have "recorded evidence" of toxicity. while people disguise their int feeding as "bad games" and I can't even say something in a TFT game.

I have never inted a single game nor have I ever prevented my team from winning as long as there was a chance. no matter how angry this game gets me. but this?

this is a complete travesty. if this is how riot games deals with toxicity then all players should know what to think. I would threaten legal action, but their definitions on personal attacks are so murky that this and go-to excuse for ignoring cases like these make it so that the possibility of me recovering anything is nothing but a happy dream. all this just because I used a no-no abbreviation. In a game famous for having players intentionally throw games with no repercussions and are now embraced into a content creator program.

I want anyone willing to listen in this community to do me a favor

to spread this post for all to see how absurd this system is and to push for change.

Two main things:

  1. Money spent shouldn't make a difference on your punishment. It shouldn't be a shield for you to hide behind or for you to use to try and get away with more.

  2. You used a Zero-Tolerance phrase. Im hoping the term defines itself enough for you to realize what it means. While you may claim to have said it jokingly, you are talking through text, in an online environment. Sarcasm and jokes usually don't come across well and even if they did, that particular term isn't one you throw out as a joke. Ever.

You were clearly warning on your 14-day suspension that any further negative behavior would be met with a permanent ban. Using a zero-tolerance phrase is definitely considered negative behavior and using it may have been what escalated your first punishment into a 14-day suspension immediately instead of the regular gradual progressions that happen with less egregious violations of the Summoners Code and ToS.

Should anyone ask, I would be happy to refer them to this post so they can see the system is working as intended and to push for a change to make this happen more often.

Since you skipped chat restrictions and went to the punishment tier right before a permaban without having committed a gameplay offense (e.g. inting), that means you used zero-tolerance phrases (encouraging self-harm, racism, homophobia, etc.) and were given a severe punishment of a 14-day suspension which very clearly tells you that the next time you make trouble - even a minor offense - your account is gone. And then you encourage self-harm, which is even more than a minor offense. So now your account is permabanned.

The reason you are permabanned for this can be seen in your reaction to it. You insist that it's ridiculous, you threaten a lawsuit, and you think that you are the victim when you encourage self-harm in violation of the rules just because other people break rules as well. Riot realized that you'd break the rules again if they gave you the chance, so they won't - thus, a permaban.

The only thing you'll accomplish by "spreading this post" is to make yourself look bad to more people.

I would threaten legal action,

Good luck, my friend. Try to sue riot for banning your account for breaking the terms of use that you agreed to.

Yes. This is how their system works. What you said there is a zero tolerance phrase which will either give you an instant 14 day ban, or if you already had a 14 day ban (which you did) a permanent one. Also thinking back you'll maybe remember that in the 14 day suspension it said that that was your last warning and the next one will be permanent. Taking legal action would be a 100% waste of your time and money because in the End User License Agreement (which you agreed to) it says that Riot can permanently suspend your account for any reason they see fit at all times.

Yep. Nobody here actually understands how bad the automated system is until they get hit by it. Everybody here talking about the "Zero tolerance policy" That doesn't exist for the abbreviation in question, unless it was added this season. I've said it plenty of times on my old account, and i see people say it all the time regardless.
