So I was playing an ARAM, when I find out the enemy Janna is gold. Ok, why did that happen? Apparently she was "playing with a lower level friend." Mind you, she's gold, and I'm not even ranked yet. So I ask her, why are you smurfing by playing with a lower level person? Then someone on the enemy team calls me "mentally retarded." ??? The game got pretty ugly, and it ended up in the entire game reporting me. I don't know why, I just was asking over and over, why u smurf? They were the ones that said I "needed help." Why does this happen? And why is the community so frickin' toxic?

Delivery is important. You can try asking it like "curiosity question: why do you smurf?", instead of saying "why you smurfing?"

People are defensive in their nature and don't like to be attacked, if Janna already said that they are playing with their friend, then that's what they are doing. Your further questioning puts them on a defense.

While i don't have full details of your chat, it doesn't sound like Janna was smurfing, and i might need you to define smurfing.

I think the problem has to do with the "over and over".

People are allowed to queue with their friends.

A gold playing with a lower level friend would not be classified as smurfing. A smurf is an alternative account for a player.

In all honesty, there was no reason to continually bother them about it. People of differing ranks play with one another constantly, especially ARAMs, where though competitive, is still more about fun.

So you were in aram... asking about smurfing... in aram, when aram takes all levels of people based off an mmr completely different from ranked, from one of the comments i saw, you apparently kept hounding them about it. Just going to be honest, think about it and you'd have your answer.

smurfing means playing with a different account.

ARAM matchmaking has nothing to do with ranked matchmaking.

ARAM is also a totally casual fun mode.

matchmaking is weird. my fresh level 30 account with not enough champions to do ranked yet got matched up against a plat 2 a plat 4 and a gold 2 yesterday in aram.

Because we have so much competitive players that this game isn't considered a game anymore. It's got its "Fun" sucked right out of it and turned into rage and insults. Honestly i wouldn't recommend league to anyone who wants a game they'll have fun with and just to relax with. You can't relax when your just trying to have fun and have your team yell at you for making that one stupid play.
