Let's be honest. In game chat has caused more problems than it has given us good. This game is already daunting to new players because of the toxicity coming from chat, so let's just get rid of it completely. Other MOBA have no in game chat and it works fine for them so let's just get rid of it for the health of the game.

I play league to be social and tell dumb jokes or make puns out of champion names. I don't play to just kill stuff.

League isn't other mobas

Each go their own direction

A user can essentially rid themselves of the chat google

Just because some kids playing league have no impulse control and feel the need to spew verbal diarrhea, doesn't necessitate Riot removing a feature of their game to satiate toxic players. If you have a problem controlling yourself from being rude/etc in chat, mute all, or remove the chat box.

Morning :)

Though In-Game chat can sometimes be toxic (maybe frequent on some occasions), if utilized properly, it can be an essential tool to your success. Yes there are times where you are on a premade team, and you have some sort of program to communicate to each other with (Skype, discord, curse, etc.). However, because it is a PC game and there are times where you are playing with random people, your keyboard becomes a valuable communication tool.

Not everyone is comfortable joining a random person's voice chat. However on console MOBAS, it is more practical to utilize voice chat unless the game has built in commands that direct you to different objectives (SMITE for example - 'attack middle lane' 'defend right lane' etc.).

League's chat is also utilized for more than typing. You can see certain items purchased, objectives (drake/baron) taken, as well as the description of pings among other things.

When you look at the grand scope of the in-game chat for League, it actually does a lot. As some other summoners have mentioned, utilize the mute function or disable All Chat to minimize toxicity.

Hope this helps provide some clarity :)

How would I tell others "I want you inside me" when I'm playing Tahm Kench if the chat is removed?

I wish league had a built in pre-made chat commands.

I mean we have the means of doing it by yourself. Just minimize the chat box to the smallest and move it off screen. Ban no more chat!
