I dont get why people are toxic :L

After the game I just played today, I really don't want to continue league anymore. The people are just too toxic and it ruins everything. Even if you are able to mute them it doesn't eliminate them from the game and their actions can be expressed in other ways.

Here's the story.

I recently played a game of Yasuo. I was up against a Zed in mid lane. He died twice to me and I ended up snowballing even harder off of roaming and capitalizing on mistakes. I think I ended around 16/1 or something. The thing that hit me was how the zed was treating his teammates and I. Despite dying to me and giving me most of my kills he kept yelling at them for feeding and low skill. I new I had to mute him, so I did, but the thing was he apparently when afk in base and just continued to yell at his team through out the whole game. Previously, he kept making remarks to me about how zed wasn't any god this patch and yasuo was the new meta (He has a small point on yas being strong but he was off about zed.) That's not even what got me though because I knew I was the better player because I treat my teammates with respect and rarely talk in all chat. The thing that got me was when I decided to 1v1 him after game (He was yas and I was zed). (BIG MISTAKE BTW). After getting a kill on me he kept treating me like trash and making ugly remarks. After game he told me that he was 21 and that I was just some unskilled kid who sucked and was in bronze. Its not even the fact that I was emotionally disturbed by it that makes me want to quit league. Its because you encounter people like this EVERY. GAME. It is not fun and it takes away from everyone. Just getting tired of '21' year old acting like they are better then everyone and that he is the only one with feelings (apparently). Heck, I am only 15 and I am way more mature and respectful then him. Some might say to just brush it off but enough is enough. If you are like this person I am describing, just stop please. People don't need your trash talk because you don't know who they are what they have going on in their life.

Some people didn't learn these valuable life lessons:

  • Don't be a jerk
  • Treat others as you want to be treated
  • You aren't innocent even if you didn't start the fight
  • If you make an agreement and don't follow it, you should expect to be punished.

End up in Bronze and you're the enemy what happen to you maybe a normals(I think) But in ranked its much much more worse, toxicity reaches insane levels, just lose a game and sadly you where the one who did bad and even if you're trying guess what they do?

They will report you and i mean massive reports for the purpose of you getting Permanent Banned, The community now has a sole Mission against unranked and Bronze players called Taking out the trash Method.

I swear the community from now on dose this for the purpose of pure Vengeance, There is No friendship in league of legends Just a Empire of Pure Hate......

Just mute, and tell the enemy team in all chat to just mute the toxicity and report after. Also, maturity doesn't come at a specific age, it comes with knowledge. You know it's best not to disrespect people. That other player is just an idiot. Best way to explain it.

Honestly? Just quit. This community is hopeless. I will be playing ESO, and maybe some other MMOs. It's very refreshing to be playing games that doesn't have people like the LoL community. Sure you get occasional trolls, even flamers, but nothing compares to this game. My life is happier when I play other games.

I find that people who are passive aggressive game-play/chat wise are more disappointing to play with because most people would see and read nothing wrong because its so well aimed at that one person. i say disappointing because this type of player can deeply offend you but u know that there is no way u can get them banned/suspended for doing it and they can just go on there way doing it to more and more people. That is the type of person that really kills the game for me. Anyone agree with me or are the toxic ragers just to common.

This is really why the game should be 18+ only and require credit-card verification to play. So we don't get posts like this.

Back when I was 15 every online game had trash talk. Diablo, Starcraft, even Everquest. It was the norm and people were okay with it. I knew a girl who lived in Canada who played Starcraft, who would regularly tell other players to "suck her dick" when they flamed her. That's how she became friends with the people I knew who played. They thought she was a guy by the severity of her trash talk. But she wasn't. Now we have a 15 year old boy crying because some guy was mean to him in league. What has this society become?

I know all of you reading this think I'm heartless or part of the problem, but there is a real difference between what used to go on in online games and what you expect to go on in league. People just dealt with the trash talk, dished it back out, and moved on. It wasn't a big deal. But many of you fall to pieces over it. It's just some stranger, who doesn't know you, spouting words at you. It's some random nobody who means nothing in your life and who shouldn't affect your life. I really don't get why people get so bent out of shape over it.

The main problem is that since trash talk and toxicity will always exist, Riot has chosen to take away the only true means of venting frustration: allowing players to verbally abuse people in retaliation. It actually does feel nice when you do it. But the community doesn't want itself to be able to have that kind of power. They'd rather live in their fantasy world, carrying their fragile egos around, hoping for the day when toxicity no longer exists. That day will never come. There will always be SOMEBODY saying SOMETHING that you don't like. I'm not sure that the community at large realizes that there are actually people who get off on this kind of thing. They have a plethora of accounts that they use specifically for toxicity and trolling purposes. They don't care if they get banned, and they're usually in bronze or silver, like the majority of the community.

The cool thing about being forced to deal with the big stuff was that the smaller comments barely registered. It was actually funny when someone said something that wasn't "hurtful enough". Sometimes people were picked on if they didn't trash talk at an appropriate level. "Nice comeback ____-sucker". I seriously worry that the world has gotten completely soft. Why don't people want to be strong anymore?

The thing is a person is Not Soft because they don't engage a toxic person...A strong/tough person doesn't feel the need to indulge every meathead thing that is said during the game. The people that go out of there way to be mean, nasty toxic and play to lose are the one's who have things to learn about life.

About the things you say about venting in-game...walk away ! Take a break, cuss and swear at your computer, punch your keyboard like that one streamer did but Don't type rude things. This only make you ( the person typing BS in game ) look dumb, and immature.

IRL You can Not go around just saying every nasty thought you have...it will catch up to you sooner or later in a bad way. Also, if one has so much anger that they have to vent so hard maybe it isn't the game but something that person should think about themselves.

M1CH43L, understand I simply don't agree with you and I'm not accusing you of any aforementioned things merely countering my opinion with yours on Toxicness in game.

This is what im trying to say. If its not right to treat people like this in the real world, it shouldnt be ok in games. Being on a game doesnt change the fact that your talking to a person.

Fishing, I really believe Riot is working on this issue very hard...I have my personal reasons to think so that I won't share because they have nothing to do with Riot and official statements.

What I Know is Riot is trying to make a game that is both fun and competitive..they are also trying to take in to account what the basic, average player wants in game.

And Guess what it is: A less toxic environment :) We are never going to be Toxic free, but I firmly believe Riot is going to make this a much funner place to play in :) Don't let downer comment stop you from telling your opinion :)

I think you misunderstood me slightly. I'm speaking as someone who grew up in an era where "toxicity" (that word didn't even exist then) was normal and expected. No one thought it was "wrong" to say mean things in chat

Let me start with a thank you for making a concise response to my post :)

Here is something for people to think about. When the internet was first released to the public it was not regulated. Now it is starting to become an issue for many things: Some things I feel most will understand without me spelling them out...let just say "threats" I personally don't believe this is a board to talk about the more serious threats that come over the internet....

So, in the future the internet is going to be watched closer, and Riot is getting a foothold before issue of death threats and such start to become a real thing. As in a truly lawfully punishable thing...because in reality it is already...If it weren't that this IS a game, as you have stated, some Keywords may actually be going into a government system right now.

Do I sound like a tin foil cap yet lol :)

Humans will be humans. Why we are like that I dont know. Not that it is related but the tragedy that took place in paris was achieved through strong beliefs. (i dont like to say 'achieved' because what happened is not an 'achievment', but its the only word that fit it right.) Although it is on an obviously less extreme scale, many players in league just dont care about who they are talking to, muchless what they are getting out of it, which is nothing at all.

Fishing, You just have to brush the nasty comments off, and do what ever you think is the right thing to do...Like making this thread...Know one thing though--Most and by most I mean almost 90 % of people agree that there is to much toxic behavior in league.

Thing is, sadly, More people will come on a forum like this only to bitch and few stand up for what they believe in. Thanks for posting.

Why?

Being on the internet provides a large amount of anonymity. That's why.

Someone standing on the street yelling racist statements and making death threats is going to quickly draw the attention of the authorities. In a short time frame after that, the authorities will know what you look like, your name, your address, and anything else they want to know. Not so on the internet. The same person can post all the hatred they wanted. Block them, they can make a new account. Block their IP address. They can refresh it. Appeal to their ISP? They won't tell you anything. And they don't have to.

It's all about a lack of consequences. In the first situation, you can dye your hair a different color every time you go out to spew more vitriol so that it's a bit harder to recognize you. But the cop that arrests you for disturbing the peace for the fourteenth time is not going to be fooled by your disguise. If you're carrying false ID, you've just made it worse for yourself.

Don't be so quick to blame kids either. The most toxic person out there isn't always a kid. Age is barely a measure of maturity. Age is an assumption of maturity. It's a rare individual who could say half of what people in this game think is toxic in public and have zero consequences. But online? Oh, yeah. Can't touch me, can't find me, can't hurt me, blah, blah, blah, I say what I want.

Its not those that DO things, sometimes players can simply cast a spell to save you ,but they choose to let you die, than dance next to your corpse once enemy is gone :P ,but they do cast ,when they need to last hit a buff mob, or enemy player ;)

Karma is real in League of Legends.Balance ,and justice, is not.

Normally I ignore people who are just on the boards complaining, but you seem genuine so I'll comment. You're mistake was doing the 1v1 with him. He only did it to get to you in the first place. Muting toxic players helps, but you really do have to ignore it. Same happens in all sports. Footballs players talk trash to each other across the line of skirmish. Basketball players talk trash to each other while they try to set up plays. I talk trash to people in chess even. Some people just take it too far. What I heard from your story was this - "I played a game of League as Yasuo with a douche for a Zed and 8 other really cool players that I had fun playing against. I'm glad the other 8 people were there because they gave me a good experience that game. I wish the Zed had chilled out, but I can find comfort in the fact that he is compensating for how he plays while the rest of us have no reason to justify our skill beyond actually demonstrating it. I hope he improves and finds his happiness on the rift, but I will never know because I will never run across him again."

You're strength comes from within you, nowhere else. Never ever ever forget that bud. Besides, you got people like me on here who have your back. We'd sure miss you if you left.

Also to be noted, I haven't had a comp to play League on in the better part of a year until the last few days. Admittedly it's only been a few days back so perhaps I'm getting lucky rolls on the games, but it does legitimately seem like the community in general is chilling out. Either the toxic ones are getting filtered out, or they're lightening up, or they simply quit because the game is becoming more complex. Either way, a little patience will pay off if you're tired of jerks in the game I believe.

I agree with almost all your post... But not this part..

Because I DONT encounter anything LIKE this "every" game.. Last Sunday was a pretty "toxic" day in my games... And that was roughly 1/2 games where I had to mute, report... And nothing at all like this. Only 1 of the games would I say I was actually bothered by the toxicity...

Are you playing mostly ranked or mostly normals?? Ranked is thought to be more toxic.

Those ppl are a small part of the game.. don't let it get to you.

I'll be honest with you here.. Im 28 and a pretty mature guy outside the game.. Kappa I'm pretty competitive and I do put alot of effort into the game when i play.. aswell as mechanics as gameplay overall.. Decisionmaking, objective control.. these 2 points were my big pro's when i used to play soccer at a high lvl. These 2 things are also my biggest ++ in the game, so when i mechanicly fail i'll fall back to it if needed.

So when I see a mistake happen, I'll be the first to mention it if he doesn't acknowledge his own mistake or mentions what went wrong. Not to flame or make him tilt but to alert him. so he knows what was wrong and that it could be prevented if (depends on the situation). Sadly i'm a pretty passive-agressive person and most of the time i'll mention it in a bad way.. Sorry to all that I ever 'flamed' it was never my intention to make you feel bad. If they do something good, i'll also comment that.. I'm not 5 year old crybaby..

BUT, this is also a thing that is most of the time wrongfully accused IMO Cuz i point out that a person made a mistake, tell him what he did wrong and what he could have done.. Or tell him to buy more efficient items WHICH IMO is still giving an advice and not a flame or trying to change ones playstyle, ppl do report it for verbal abuse or negativity. I wont deny that i used cursewords, but it's just a matter of how i explain myself.. Even if i flame a guy at one point, i'll be the first to help him in lane or help him survive if he can carry.

We all want to get better don't we? If i make a mistake ppl can tell me what i did wrong, i can still disagree but if ppl had a better overview of the map and my play then i did, i'll be the first one to acknowledge my mistake. Cuz it will make me better, i know what i have to do next time when such a situation happens to me. And thats what i do.. when ppl don't realise a mistake, i'll tell them. it makes them better cuz now they know and it prevails our team from losing if he understand his own mistake.

AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS GAME. Ppl think they are god.. when a mistake is made self-criticism is non existent and they blame everything else but themselves. This causes irritation in your team cuz the game has evolved where ppl are mechanicly better but poorly decisionwise.. and it's mostly the ones being good at the decisiontaking, map control, overall gameplay that will mention the mistakes to others. This is also the moment you'll press that report button EVEN if the guy was right but mentioned it in an agressive way (yes, it should be reported but not always, it should be taken into consideration).

If i'm 1-10 flaming missplays about others, then damn right i should be reported. if i'm 7-1 telling ppl missplays, ending up carrying them.. then those ppl should be considerate towards me. Cuz even though i outted myself in a bad way it doesn't mean im a bad person at heart. it's just my poor verbal communication that sucks big D's ^^

In this case, the zed should be definetly reported. and also.. PLS do not consider 'noob' 'unskilled' as flame.. these are 2 words for ppl who are simple minded and most of the time bad.. Next time a guy says it.. just give him the almight "XD" and mute him.

Ppl will disagree with me on most part, but idc tbh. I'm a very caring person irl.. i hand out skins too ppl who played very good, help them in gameor outside if needed, i'll give my last dime if i could help someone out.. So if i say a curseword or 2 or explain myself in a negative way even though i don't mean too.. than thats too bad. I never intent to hurt anyone.. i just want to win and if ppl need to be told what they did wrong then i just have to.

Edit; This isn't the fault of the ppl.. this is global society.. Hardly anyone has a backspine nowadays.. No one accepts criticism anymore. And thats what's wrong.

To give you an example.. Are you gonna report your coach for verbal abuse and negativity when he yells at you when you did something wrong on the field? Exactly.. you won't. just a thing to think about :) OH AND.. i'm not approving flame. when a flamer is childish and immature go on and report him. I'd do it too, but not everyone intends to flame.. even if he uses a curseword.

Read the post I just made, most of NA's playerbase is privileged kids with wealthy parents that are sheltered and have nothing better to do with their lives. They're bitter kissless virgins that either think they are owed a spot in LCS so they flame whenever something bad happens to them, or they're just losers that troll all day because they're ugly pale trash that don't get attention in real life.
