People Keep Whining Over the Report System

After reading a couple player behavior and moderation threads on this subject, I've noticed a bunch of people whining over the report system. Things like "Riot is a soft teddy bear" to "This game is teaching kids to be like little girls" is a little silly when I read it. People with banned accounts are whining over the fact that they were banned after saying things they shouldn't and being toxic. They then ask why they were banned for one game of toxicity. The fact of the matter is that there are 4 other players in the game besides that one toxic person. The one person's toxicity affects every player on his team, not just himself. I think that is what these banned players fail to recognize when they complain about the reporting system. If they know that people may interpret words other than was meant(maybe in a toxic way), then that player should be mature enough to remain silent. I find often in my games when I'm ticked at people or they start raging and we get into an argument, I will either mute them, stop talking, or both, and that calms my nerves a great deal so I can focus on the game and play my best.

No one is banned for one game of toxicity. They will tell you that, but it's just denial that they're causing the problem. The people that tell you they got banned for one or three games are the same ones that will tell you "I was replying to them" and "Calling my teammates trash isn't toxic".

Depending on the situation, they shouldn't be banned for one game. And they already aren't banned for one game, in most cases.

Only extreme situations, like substantial personal threats, are escalated immediately to a ban from a single offense. For most anything else, it requires an extended pattern of poor behavior across many games to even get the first 10-game chat restriction. The logs provided to players with their notices are just a sample.

I mean the point is simple really, It is never okay to take away someones personal freedoms because of the emotions of another.

These are people you dont know, you should not have an emotional response elicited from just words. If you do, you are yourself a weak person. Furthermore if you were watching some soccer or any other sport really, and someone runs all the way down field with the ball and scores in their own goal, you expect that persons teamates not to be mad? Really? because thats the effect people who feed and are uncooperative have in ranked, and these people arent toxic, but ruin games for everyone but never get punished. The only thing you ever see getting punished is communication.

I personally dont mute people, i have had hundreds of people rage at me over the last 6 years of playing this game, I have never raged back, I just play the game, i dont sit and chat, You know why?

So again, your point is false, someone raging at you has no effect on gameplay, your reaction to someone talking regaurdless of positive or negative distracts you from playing

No matter the amount of toxicity, no player should be banned reguardless for anything reguarding communication, Thats a player to player problem, not riots. It doesnt effect gameplay, and if it did the mute button is available, also you can scale down size of chat to not see it. You have options

Regardless of their encounter with 4 other players on their team, I always find it ironic when people complain about Riot going all soft when it is they who cannot keep their composure, maintain maturity, nor contribute like an adult member of society (It is generally implied that the ones complaining about bans are adults because they see themselves as adults).

Who are the little kids again?

Putting in a consequence system does not help, It just stops people who are punished from communcating period, So instead of bad behavior now there is NO behavior, Which is a ridiculous trade off, If you dont like something you have the option not to see it, That is what should be encouraged. Encourage good behavior, Encourage the personal choice not to see people if they speak with dirty language. Dont just punish bad behavior.

Yes because people are offended by someone raging lets punish everyone instead of putting out incentives to encourage good behavior. Solid. Super Duper logical.

Your poll is bad, and you should feel bad. At least the 'No' option, anyways. You get bonus points for including a 'Maybe' option, at least.

You can't make the options in a poll "I agree with OP" and "I am an asshole" How about some objectivity?

Here's a crazy idea, have different standards for behavior and skill for ranked and non ranked games. You know what is toxic? Having someone who plays to win, research what they are supposed to do, constantly tries to improve and communicate, etc. be forced to play games with these little shitter snowflakes who just fuck around and dont care, its ok that they are 0-10 and waste my time, because thats not toxic...right? lol what a joke.

There was your first mistake.

the players that need bans are never toxic just once. every time someone doesnt gank in time, gets caught in a gank, gives first blood, loses an objective ect. builds on those really toxic players till then have to let the venom fly.

the largest problem is people let fly back then either everyone reports everyone or no one reports at all.

The amount of times ive had toxic people in a game and the whole team should report and they just jump out of the end game screen as fast as they can to reque. Nothing riot does is going to work if people wont use the options we have.
