Questions About Player Insults

So the other day a player called me “A beta male f*g”. Is that like an actual insult? I thought beta male was just from the CollegeHumor vid i first heard it on. Now i don’t have a PH.D in shittalking but how is any part of that word insulting? It’s just like “Hey, you don’t act like Sean Connory”. Ugh, I’m confused by people nowadays

Well, the homophobic slur - you know, the one you self-censored - is definitely a problem. The community considers it hate speech and Riot has a zero-tolerance policy on that.

As for "beta male", that would fall under the generic "don't be a jerk" guideline. It's clearly not meant as a compliment and people often use it as a stand-in for words and phrases that would get them in trouble. I suggest using it sparingly, if at all.

Ideally, one wouldn't need to insult other players and it would be nice if people used more creativity in their insults, but you can't have everything.

It's not created by them (not that they are to be used as a source, anyway), it's a biological term whose use has expanded. In this context, it's being used casually to mean "a spineless, ineffectual male", which is pretty clear on how it is not complimentary.

"Beta-male" is one of a list of terms used by people who either are involved with far right political groups, or find them funny. Which really honestly makes little difference in the long run.

It's mainly used by shitty people who want to make themselves feel better. Mute them as soon as it comes up.

Yes its an insult and a criticism. Did you really have to ask? Don't take it personal how people view you because you don't have the same problems they do.
