"The report system doesn't work" - Why that's a GOOD thing.

The report system is there to identify hateful, spiteful, people who get some strange kick out of insulting strangers on the internet.

It is NOT there for you to blame your teammates because you lost. You lose games. Pros lose games. Even Faker lost a game. Every single game, one team is going to lose. There are always losers. Sometimes, it is your turn.

The reason the report system "doesn't work" is that toxic players are the ones most eager to report their teammates. If the report system actually banned every player who got reported, there would be nothing but toxic players in LoL for a while, then there would be no one left at all.

Stop treating the report system like it's your own personal griefing tool. Learn to play better, or just learn that no matter how good you play, and how skilled or unskilled your teammates are, you WILL lose games anyway.

One of my friends worked as a dispatcher for 911 (emergency help line in the USA for you non-Americans). She said it's a big problem getting help to people in time because 911 gets a lot of phony, prank, or otherwise unimportant phone calls.

If people actually used the report system the way it was intended, it would be a lot easier for Riot to keep the real hateful, spliteful immature people out of this game.

this is not true. the new report system does not even review the reports, and punishes every 3. it used to filter out the fake reports, but now i have received an unjust 2 week ban because this new stupid ass system. People report because i make remarks, nontoxic, such as, "please work on your cs'ing, it will improve your overall play on every champ". I have been reported for saying that AND I WAS PUNISHED. this new system is fucking retarded.

The report system doesn't work because feeders/trolls do not get permanently banned and you get automated bans for saying "gg easy". The report system doesn't work because there's no foundation to support it, tribunal is down for years. The report system doesn't work because afkers and leavers don't get banned, they get chance after chance to ruin more games instead. The report system doesn't work because the real hatefull spitefull people are considered as important as those who just talk shit in videogames, e.g. holding the same regards towards those who say "you fucking suck" and those who spew racist, homophobic, ignorant slewrs. NO, THEY ARE NOT OF THE SAME GRAVITY. The report system doesn't work because they are too busy making more stuff to sell you instead of focusing on the core of their game.

--Hope that covered your concerns :D

if prisoner island exists (which it does) then the report system is useless regardless. You can try to get better/nicer and possibly even do so but if you continue to get matched with people of the same level as before then you will not make any progress. Not to mention the people that actually do get their reports right simply because the person in question called the player bad or something due to their legitimate lack of skill. So unless you treat feeders well, and perpetuate it in the same way as prisoner island perpetuates negativity, you will be banned at most. Big deal, if i'm getting matched with amateurs no matter what i do then id rather make a new account anyway.

Supposely, the report sistem doesn't give any weight to reports made by people who are constantly reported themselves, therefore you shouldn't really worry about a flamer reporting you since it's likely useless for him. What might be an issue, though, is the report system not working and those people getting to a regular player status (and therefore regular importance on reporting) thanks to not receiveing any reports.

I agree.

So by your logic, even if Malphite fed 14 kills, or Katarina thought she was a god with only 2 items 30 minutes in, or your jungler decided to try jungle Karthus, you shouldn't report them for being unskilled?

Or how bout if your twitchy Lee-Sin starts going off after a failed game, f this f that. Or how bout if say Garen starts spitting some venom at the bot lane, calling the Vayne a product of incest or something. He shouldn't get reported for verbal harassment?

There is a reason that there is a report button, and I don't care if you've lost 5 games in a row, or this is your first loss of the day. Stuff like that should be reported, regardless of the reason.

I'll accept the loss, get over it, and move the hell on with my life. If we lost but no-one is really to blame, then I won't report anyone because it would be just any other game of League.

Pretty sure that's not a good point. If the report system worked correctly, then it would just ignore the toxic person's bans and punish the toxic people. The difference between the report system and 911 services is that the reports are sent through an automated system. Right now it already ignore's the random bans because there's no reason to punish unless they flamed too.

I don't think you, or any player, should assume they know WHY the system is there. It's actually quite insulting that you insinuate that people are hateful or just trying to get a kick out of things. Mainly I see peoples frustration in a game out come and let their words descend into madness because they lack the ability to properly communicate (and quickly) what they need out of the other person in a way that's fair to both and contributing to the same goal

That's something to keep in mind the next time you're in a game or want to post something that's not actually helping anyone.

Personally, I think there should be a system to "report" inexperienced players and a huge focus should go into helping these players learn.

Many people don't understand things that should be basic like when to dragon, how to tower dive, where to stand and how to get to a team fight, how to set up a 4 man gank at bot or even more basic like csing properly, not dying more than 10 times a game (because anything more means you seriously made mistakes), and how to freeze a lane when behind.

The best things I've seen (from my experience) have been youtube videos of "how to recall effectively" or "the trading stance" (positioning for csing).

Frankly, complaining about how people abuse a system and asking them to stop doesn't work. The system has to be fixed, and the ONLY credit I give Riot is that they are continually "fixing" it.

Codasylph11/8/2015, 5:02:40 PM1 votes

On the one hand you make some good points. It's sad that the report system has (or had, I can't remember if the new one has it) a section for bad play just because Riot knows that people are going to report for someone just not being very good at the game and this way they're lumped into one place.

That said, it is very frustrating for those of us that report for legitimate reasons and still end up in games with the same rude players exhibiting the same toxic behavior, or more often in my case script users that aren't even actually even playing.

wait, so you mean to say I can flame my teammates and they wont get banned. WTF Rito.

I agree this don't work and you can go to the tread i just posted and read why ill cut it down i was toxic yes, got a 2 week ban came back 2 days ago had not been toxic at all just got in a game about a hour ago with a quad que they did not like i got top in pick order and were toxic to me all game and said they would report me i was fine with that cause i had known i had not been toxic back to them, go to que another game and it tells me i got perma banned from the quad que and even the enemy team agreed they were toxic to me cause they were talking in all chat and they also were bashing the enemy team, i also had a game were a player said he hoped my mom would die be hung and throat slit and that i had to hold her guts, i added this player on another account he told me he was on a 45 game chat ban and me and 3 friends had wrote a very detailed report

freya od11/7/2015, 12:49:55 PM1 votes

I have seriously had 4 really toxic people in my games in just the last few days, all gone without punishment. Just tonight I had 2 people in my lobby where they played a previous game together, and one was being toxic to the other. We load in game, and she's my adc, im her support. She starts the game off talking to the old person saying, "hope youre a better nunu than you are jinx". I die as shen later to ignite, etc. and she just berates me about it. So I left her bot lane, and went top because vlad was losing to olaf.

She whined and cussed all game, started following me around the map trolling me. etc. this went on for 25 minutes. And still nothing done about it. Other games were just as ban worthy if anyone would've just looked at the chat, every single report ive given out thats been more than deserved has gone unpunished and i haven't gotten a report that anythings been done.

It's actually extremely discouraging, and if anything it infuriates because I have been chat restricted and banned for almost next to nothing. like after repeatedly asking the support to get a sightstone, i'll have been like "please just get a FUCKING sightstone" yet saying "go die you fucking bitch" goes unpunished. Rito logic.

I don't even report people unless they are so misbehaved that I realize. [zombie-brand-clap]
