FF or QQ·3/27/2019, 3:38:31 PM·3 votes·3,777 views

Hi, me again :)

I always say FF or QQ but we're often left in a state of super-position in our matches these days. I swear this community is so toxic that I'd rather chop onions while I watch my toon fish on runescape. If we're losing, a team can't just lose. Not my team. Some of us will fester in silence while spot lights pass by over head seeking out any evil doers, others will flame whoever has the most deaths only to immediately be put into a firing line. Either way the game doesn't feel good to lose, and honestly... I don't think it has to. Turn up exp and rewards to be equal to that of winning, and it'd lift the miasma of salt a bit. If it didn't suck so much ass to lose maybe we wouldn't be taking it out on each other. LP is one thing, but this isn't LCS. We don't need to pay the winning team more. Or the nicer guy more. Give him a ward skin here and there, idgaf. But don't give that kiss ass more rune pages and champs than me. You're favoring a PC agenda then. That's not so much of a problem though.

You guys flip over lines of text bruh. Then you call THEM childish. PUH - leeeeease. Drop the sanctimonious act. You want revenge, so drag your mouse across your desk so hard it leaves black marks right on over to the report button. These aren't noble intentions guy. I know cause I do that shit LOL

I'm not justifying the reports I've issued in the past. I mean, I can justify the ones with the guys unironically spamming the hard R. The rage quitters. The inters. Get those fuckers I'm all for it. I'll grab a pitch fork right along with you guys but don't stab me in the back for calling them toxic assholes. People are different, we should embrace that shit. It's GOOD. Diversity is good my ninja. We just need to mute or mature the fuck out of any annoying people. 'Cause I'm the biggest asshole I know but... Issuing a real penalty over conceptual text is as hypocritical as arresting a kid as a terrorist for making a jihad joke. I mean, I'm comparing the extremes but the logic is sound.

Changing hearts and minds is tough. It takes time. I'll be around to kick it with you guys while I watch Riot desperately releasing balance patches fishing for the half of their player base that just dipped. I like this game. For the most part. The part I love about the community is being policed though, forced through a cookie cutter shaped hallway. A "one size" fits all type of Marxism you know? 1812 type stuff. Marching single file saying "mb hehe xd" in painful monotony.

Let's divert our intention to the SOURCE bruh, let's not exchange freedom for security. Whimsy for caution. Free will for cold analytics. Fuck that. That's not my community. I know you guys prob read that part n' thought "Well... Riot called. They told you to pack your shit" well I reply you can't fire me I quite my dude. I'll just be on the outside lookin in as this shit just dissolves around Riot and they can't find the source of the problem. We're already so careful about being toxic, only to slip up once or twice to be slapped in the face with riots girthy schlong. Let's just mute toxic people, ban cheaters and feeders. Let's make real change. Unban accounts for toxicity, eating seeds is a pass time activity after all, it's the toxicity of our city. The human condition is to be at odds with what's different. Let's plan for that.

Agreed. There really is no reason to punish for chat when there is a mute button present, only punish players from spamming.

Players need to deal with speech they disagree with by themselves and to not rely on Riot

You make so many assumptions and logical fallacies that I honestly don't know where to start, so I'll just go through it in the order in which they are presented.

Favouring people who do not actively piss off their customers and therefore costing them money is not the same as favouring a PC agenda. Go start randomly insult people at a store, see how long that store will let you stay. Does that have anything to do with PC?

The vast majority of people who report for chat don't "flip" over it. They are annoyed by it. They don't want to see this shit in their recreational time. I'm not going to deny that the satisfaction of revenge is probably factoring into the decision to report somebody, but to imply that it's the only motivation is ridiculous and unsubstantiated. Just because you did something doesn't mean everybody does it.

You are then going on to assume that any diversity in behaviour and opinion is automatically good (which is, ironically, something that the PC movement is typically accused of). Some people think it's okay to murder people that have insulted their honor in some way… should we embrace that as a society? That by the way, is how you construct an extreme analogy. Your analogy of arresting somebody as a terrorist for making a jihad joke is not in fact sound logic, because it is about stretching the definition of "terrorism". Riot isn't stretching any definition or punishing you for things you didn't do.

Lastly: You don't want to exchange freedom for security? At all? Should murder be legal, in your opinion? If you think murder shouldn't be legal, you are willing to sacrifice freedom for security.

Which leads me to my final point, which applies to a lot of the rhetoric you apply in your post: Stop pretending that this is some kind of idealistic battle. There is no fundamental disagreement on values, there is only a disagreement on their degree of importance in comparison to one another. Stop trying to replace logical arguments with rhetoric.

Fully agree. Not to mention that the current system is too harsh, even if it has the effect they claim it does. I mean, my account got banned after five years of play at honor level 2 because I flamed every other game for a couple weeks. I didn't know it took 1000% more matches than the ones you flamed in to deescalate the punishment. Now I get no mercy from riot just toxic "I know youre frusturated getting your account banned sucks! but we did warn you a couple times every couple months. It's waaaaay too extreme. I'm going to level up a smurf account to thirty, and try flaming in ranked games and see how long it takes. Like how many games in between each flame does it take. I bet it'll be like 1 game for every thirty.

Here is the problem, essentially:

  • You don't see anything the way that other people see it (simply true, period).

  • Other people think everyone should be entitled to play the game with no toxic behavior.

  • You think other people should not be allowed to say what constitutes "toxic behavior".

In particular, you are willing to identify some behaviors as toxic - nevermind the question of whether the community agrees on those - but not if it's anything you've ever gotten in trouble for.
