[Discussion] Honor system coming
As New001 Mentioned, honor system is coming first as all the behavioral changes.
While its nice, fine and dandy to get a new honor system, I personally feel like it won't solve the immediate toxicity problems that we are seeing.
From what I am seeing through these boards, I feel like that people are more concerned about the following:
- Intentional feeders not getting punished after 5 million games (exaggerated numbers)
- THAT DUDE WAS SO TOXIC, YET HE DIDN'T GET PUNISHED!! WTF!!
- I can do whatever I want cos the system doesn't work
- Way to get the toxics into prisoner Island
- AFKing not being punished hard enough
- That dude banned my pick, then said he'll troll. I dodged. Please let me report them.
Very rarely do I see a topic about the honor system (there are a few out there) and I feel that Riot has their priorities wrong.
The Rioters that have been communicating to us in regards to behavioral systems have mentioned that the system's visibility is at an all time low, even though toxicity has drastically reduced. That was in the early months of 2016. I still feel like that perception of the system's visibility is still extremely low. People (who knows what the percentage are) are feeling that the toxics are getting away with everything, and the toxics think they can get away with gaming the system (and then they come complaining on the boards after they get banned).
Yes, the honor system allows everyone to participate in it. It interacts more with good sportsmanship that people can feel good about, but I think that feeling good out of game (I'm mastery 7 on Zyra and I feel real good about it out of game), doesn't change how people act in game. If I'm tilted and getting triggered, that fancy honor icon is not going to stop me from raging (at my screen).
The honor system won't stop people thinking that the trolls are getting away with everything, neither would it help reduce the trolls / toxicity, cos they see that bad behavior every few games and think that if someone is getting away with it, so can they.
As Tantram has teased us, I think a report card system will get us very far in regards to improving perception of the behavioral system and reducing toxicity. Which is what I think they should focus on.
Unlike an improved reform card (telling you exactly what isn't acceptable in the behavior) which will only affect <5% of the players, report cards will hit 100% of the players and I believe would have been a better use of Riot's time/resources. Heck, even a better education method in regards to the behavioral system (maybe just as simple as tabs in the new client to teach you about behaviors system and how it works, what isn't acceptable) would probably help reduce toxicity more than an improved honor system.
TLDR: The new honor system looks shiney, looks like everyone can participate in it, but I really don't think it would solve anything in regards to toxicity. They should focus on implementing a report card system.
