I don't think the generally toxic attitude is involved in this, mostly because of the post about trash talking made by Riot. Also I've had plenty of friends that said much worse things and got away with it.

Just in case you want to know the context of that """"""insult"""""", a guy was bragging because he was a yasuo main. Literally a scene that you see in most bronze games, I don't see anything wrong with this.

In any case Riot has a no tolerance policy here, and that's no with a capital NO. Context doesn't really matter here, and they are very strict when it comes to their chat.

Also of note, the automated system doesn't look at chat logs for people who don't get reported, which means someone reported you that game. You might want to look into that if you were only playing with friends.

I'm not sure why you think that others' actions have relevance to your own. Just because others do terrible things does not mean you can as well.

Riot has a zero-tolerance policy against hate speech, such as the homophobic slur you used. You may have thought it a joke, but not everyone does.

Also writing %%% is not trash talking. It just writing a slur, and it is an insulting slur. It really isn't fun to be called slurs.

What a world we live in.. my reccomendation is to not even bother. We live in a generation of pansys that get offended by any little thing. Just live with it and move on. Older generation is probably laughing right at us lmao.

Do you even know the origin of the word as a slur? Edit: I was mistaken, this may not be the origin of it, but it's still a worse insult because of this double meaning.

The original word meant "a bundle of sticks." Like you would use for firewood. It is offensive because of it's history as a slur, but it's also terrible because it can imply that the person being referred to should be burned.

I did it a few months back to the enemy who was bantering with me. Someone on my team didn't like it. I shouldn't have said it anyway, regardless if it was a joke. You shouldn't have either.

Keep in mind that people will report you for the sake of reporting because they know it warrants a punishment. So it's best to not say anything in chat negative.

Unfortunately, OP, certain words trigger the no-tolerance system, and render a punishment, even if chat was taken out of context (i.e. someone saying that someone else called them a "%%%").

However, with the chat listed above, it seems to be that you are insulting the enemy/teammate you are chatting with, especially considering you said "ez" afterwards. and the fact you called him a "%%%" because he mains a champion.

Punishment was valid.

I called my team a bunch of (fword gay slur) once and was immediately like oh shit where did that come from? Im gonna get banned. But i didnt talk the rest of the gameto try n quietly slip through post game lobby hoping no one was thinking about it still. I think it worked. never got punished. I think they just didnt report me, thank god.

If I did get banned though, I would understand that it was my bad. It was a dumbass moment. Just impulsively threw the word out there. I definitely wouldnt have come to the boards to skirt any responsibility. Just take responsibility for your actions dude. You fucked up.
