Why is there such a discrepancy between the honor system and the punishment system?

To better understand my point of view, bear with me through these experiences.

Honor: I click the honor button. I select a category. That person gets a loading screen icon for one game.

Punishment: I click the report button. I select a category. I can add a comment to the report. That report gets processed by the IFS. The reported account is potentially "banned".

Hopefully, you can see a difference in effort between the two systems?

"If you are bad, we will kill you. If you are neutral, we will let you live. If you are good, we will wave to you."

Honor system gives special honor chests, too. Free skins!

But being courteous is simply expected. It's a baseline. This isn't a video game where good vs. evil need to be properly weighted. You're just supposed to not be a rampaging dickbag. And hey! The new honor system gives you some bonuses!

Because the 2 have nothing to do with each other?

The honor system is a nice gimmick to say thank you to people YOU liked. Wheter or not these people actually deserve that, is your decision.

The punisment system is a protective mechanism, which removes people once THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY decided they should not be allowed to be in this game.

You understand the difference in gravitas here? In one case, you, a single guy, make a decision. In the other, the community as a collective makes a decision.

Because if somebody gets unfairly honored, he won't care and the vast majority of the community won't either.

If somebody gets unfairly banned they really care and it can destroy their account.

If you fuck up the honor system some guy who doesn't deserve it get's an azir shard for their effort. If you fuck up the ifs you take away accounts unfairly, that is why this system has way more layers.
