Some people make this game more difficult than it needs to be
I have been playing almost nothing but League of Legends and Heroes of the Storm lately and I've noticed something pretty similar in the both of them.
There are sometimes some players that are intellectually immature. What I mean by that is they do not enjoy being presented with problems and a solution being implied for them. To them, such chat actions are considered flaming and attacks, but they are in fact invitations to fix problems.
Is it meta in school nowadays to yell at your teacher when they don't give you an A on your test? Because the impression that I get from players in these team strategy games is that it is. There is an honor option called 'good shotcalling' and players that recognize the intelligence of their allies will use this honor option. Sometimes I barely type anything at all in chat but I still get this honor recognition.
I don't mind a little bit of debate now and then, nobody should. But at some point the chat gets to be too much because some players are being stubborn and that's when people need to get muted. Unfortunately, sometimes what ends up happening is that point is reached much too quickly and the game, being as complex as it is, tends to end up in a sloppy mess where maybe even both teams are struggling to teamwork due to lack of communication and the game ends up going long.
I for one appreciate the shorter games. There is no pause or time out feature in this game. Until such things start happening(maybe at benchmarks like first Tower/Dragon/Herald/Baron taken, giving all players a 2 minute pause automatically...you can't really make an argument for enjoying longer games IMHO. Nowadays, with the direction Riot has taken this game, now I understand there are going to be exceptions, but from my experience, the longer games always seem to happen because there is toxicity present on one or both teams.
These longer games truly make the game harder than it needs to be. I think if Riot wants to please fans of longer games, instead of creating such a crazy balance to the system where their item/champ/rune choices define how long the game goes, they should introduce benchmark pauses to the game. I've personally been scratching my head lately wondering why people pick certain items/champs/runes and the bottom line is sometimes they want a longer match and they are purposely trying to drag out the matches. If we actually had a pause system, I wouldn't mind such decisions all that much and I'm sure Riot wouldn't mind pumping more power into both ideas, of taking games early and taking them late.
