What are some things positive players say? What are some common toxic things to say?

So part of not-being toxic is having something else to do with that energy. I noticed myself becoming toxic and resentful of other players, but it's actually pretty hard to think of other things to say. I use the Lux two-thumbs emote when I can't think of anything positive to do with myself, but it can come across as sarcastic. I legitimately feel a compulsion to express myself, and I can't move on until I do, but my instinct is "F*** me, I wish I had an ADC".

Flip side, identifying toxic phrases is a great way to catch yourself using them and being a douche.

EDIT: What are some de-escalation phrases that don't come off as condescending?

Ways to be positive. "Good work bot, keep it up" even if it's just a cs lead. "I'm ahead, anyone needs help?" "My bad team, if I played that better we ace them" Even if it is a lie. "Can happen to anyone, remember Patoy sona ult? xD" After any obvious fuck up

Also try to let the team know if you are doing something specific so they can play around it, TP cooldowns, jungle rotations, objectives. Another good thing is to try wind up the enemy team early in a game so you turn any future possible toxicity that way instead of within the team, also stand up for them if the enemy ridicules them at any point, show em some love.

Positive: "Thank you" "No problem" "You're welcome" "Good/Nice job" "May the Force be with you" [sg-ahri-2]

Negative: Anything about feeding KD comments (They usually also ignore Assists and objective control) no ganks Rank shame Trash [insert posiiton/champion] [sg-shisa]

Well if you have 2 afk in ranked after min 10 and yr opponents say gg i am pretty sure this is negative also....

Most toxic and at the same time hilarious thing is bringing up someone's rank....in a ranked game... where player MMRs are bound to be very similar....

When I'm in a situation where I'm tempted to flame, I pause, take a deep breath, and think "what can I say that would actually improve our chances here?" Here are some examples:

  • hey top, I know you're getting ganked, but we're getting drakes for it. Just hang in there! Sorry, dude!
  • yo galio, come towards me next time. I've got shields and heals for you and I might be able to save you there or at least get a return kill
  • we should group up; they are picking us off and we have much better teamfight. Just stay together and this is an easy win
  • we need some vision. please buy a pink next time you back, everyone!

Sometimes, these don't work at all. Nothing you can do about that. Other times, I honestly get exactly what I was hoping for; people calm down and even adjust their play a bit for you if you're nice about it.

Don't let them moderate you like you're a computer bro. They're like you gotta be 1's and not 0's. If we acknowledge that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, than so too is toxicity. It's all equal, or none of it is. Words that are super offensive to one person, are likely funny to another. They are just words, moderating words does more sociological harm than good. People have forgotten to agree to disagree.

I've actually quite league because of this unethical tribunal system. Until they limit reports to explicit cheating, scripting, afk's and intentional feeders, I won't be seen again on the rift.

Positive players:

Say nothing and focus on the game, only communicating through pings.

Negative:

Typing anything may result in aggravating your allies regardless of the content. Typing is toxic and keeps you from actually playing the game.
