@Riot: Are permanent bans given by the automated system or Rioter review?

I'm simply curious as to whether permanent ban decisions are given to a Riot employee for judgment or if they are automated just like the rest of the Instant Feedback System. I didn't find any exact details of the sort on your support site and wanted to make sure, as I tend to post on "I've Been Banned" threads fairly often and want to make sure I'm giving people correct information.

If either a red or blue could post a response here for me, I would very much appreciate it. Have a nice day, all.

I can answer that;

The automated system will issue permabans without manual review. Riot only reviews random cases to verify system accuracy.

Upvote because I'm curious to see as well

On a semi-related note, I'm also curious why accounts that were permanently banned are kept around.

Someone suggested to me that it was to keep players from re-taking their summoner names on smurfs, but I feel like there'd be other ways to do that without just leaving the accounts lingering.

Otherwise, I'd assume it has something to do with boards access, now that I think about it.

Not alot of people get perma-banned infact almost all of them reform so its not like thier desk will pile up sky high in the 1st 10 mins. Beside they have a small team that were hired just for this kind of stuff so why not make them do something once in awhile lol.
