The New Honor System

Apologies in advance if everything is not in English(US), I'm from the UK but I will try my best!

The new honor system is great for promoting good behavior and the fact it has rewards included in it is brilliant, I have no doubts that it is going to have a positive impact on the communities behavior and reduce toxicity to an extent. However I dislike a few things about it.

You can only honor one teammate

I understand that since there are rewards now, some people would possible spam everyone with honors if the option to honor more than one person became available, however

So say bot lost early but didn't tilt, and managed to come back into the game through helping their teammates and remaining positive, I then have to choose between honoring the ADC for "stayed cool" or the support, I am not allowed to honor both.

The fact that it only allows you to pick one player means you have to choose between the person who played poorly but was positive about it and didn't flame, or the person who played the best.

Have I to pick the player who stayed calm after losing lane and managed to come back into the game over the shot caller who led us to the win, or the ally who was just generally fun to play with?

What if I enjoyed playing with all my team, if they all deserve "GG <3", how do I choose?

Champions with Flashy Plays

I think it is safe to say that if someone gets a penta, most people will honor them over the person who was shotcalling perfectly or being a great teammate, being kind and friendly, not giving up when things were not going great for them, etc. This is just the way it works, the same thing happened with the previous system.

With the rewards attached this is most likely going to encourage players to only pick champs with high potential of having identifiable moments in which will be remembered at the time it comes to vote. Champions like Yi, Yasuo, Lee Sin, Zed, Katarina, Bard etc. are likely going to have more memorable moments than those champs like Braum, Trundle, Taliyah, Yorick, etc. who can do their jobs just as well but often not recognized as much. Hardly anyone will remember the Braum passive stunning the strongest member of the enemy team, over the Camille who jumped in and got the kill.

Utility based champions are going to be tossed aside by more people just for the chance of having one of those "flashy plays" to get them honors.

Stayed cool?

Who do I give this to?

The top laner who went 0/3 in lane but managed didn't tilt?

The mid laner who didn't tilt after the adc went 0/5 or the adc who didn't flame the jungler/support after going 0/5?

The person who didn't flame after the nami heal took "their" kill whilst saving their life, or the support who didn't tilt after the adc didn't once use heal to save them?

How do you define stayed cool when you are not physically their with the person? Just pick the person who never used chat? or didn't rage? Not every member of the community is toxic.

The "stayed cool" option being there is useful as it will stop many players from being toxic or negative, however there isn't really any way to tell who exactly I should be giving it to in my team unless only one person does not tilt, and with the previous point I made, it will be less recognized than a flashy play made by a teammate.

The banner

2 premades get their friend the banner for their next game, and they are rotating who they give it to each time, so you go into a game seeing that your ally has the banner and think they are an honorable player, you then find out as soon as things go bad that they flame and tilt, and are just getting honors from their friends.

The banner would be so much more reliable in its meaning if it was say "got the most honors 3 games in a row" or gets honored in 70% of their games for example because right now with the fact you only need one (two if premade) honors to get the banner once level 3 it is now almost impossible to tell if someone is actually being honorable..

Progress

It would be nice to see how I was progressing up the honors, for example if the circular bar around the sphere on the tokens lit up like a progress bar. It's not like seeing your progression through a bar can be abused, you can't tell whether you are 10 or 15% of the way across just by looking, and unless you were to count every honor up to the next level you would not know how much you needed, and that can be done anyway with the way honors work.

Seeing the progression with the honors would also help to promote the behaviour, physically seeing yourself getting closer to that next level would help boost the reasons to be positive in games.

you decide on who you honor. no one tells you what to do and not to do.

Currently, there is no difference on which category you honor someone. Maybe later it will.

Also, just because the carry got a penta, doesn't mean it wasn't set up by the support, and good players recognize the setup more than the kill score.

You could always get some friends and circle-jerk each other.

Yes, I know the point you're trying to make. But with friends it wont matter.
