Toxicity
I've been seeing a lot of complaining threads that are extremely similar about Toxicity. Whether it's a post about encountering it, what are we going to do to stop it, reporting it, whining about it etc...the list goes on. From what I can tell, a lot of people agree (myself included) that being toxic or engaging with a toxic player just sucks, but really though I don't see it being that big of a damn deal. I feel as if the players that whine about it the most are either very young, or League of Legends is just their first online gaming experience. To put it bluntly, the fact is toxicity is not going ANYWHERE, so just get used to it. My first online competitive gaming experience was during the Xbox Halo 2 days, and unlike League there was actual Voice Comms...So there was an OBSCENE amount of shit talking, flaming, racist comments, toxicity etc. Whether it's Xbox Live, PSN, or PC... if you are playing a game online competitively, Toxicity is coming with it. While I'm not condoning being toxic in LoL... I am saying maybe you shouldn't take it so personally. As long as players get to hide behind a cloak of anonymity, there will always be Toxic players in games. Riot gave you the option to mute people... use it. Just be happy that they haven't implemented Voice Comms... reading flame isn't nearly on the same level as hearing flame. (Even though personally I want them to... and if someone is being verbally abusive towards me... I'm just gonna shut them up and mute them).
I don't know... maybe it's because I rarely encounter it in game, as there typically is a OVERLOOKED correlation between constantly fucking up/stupid decisions = Toxic Teammates, or perhaps I'm just desensitized towards it all from my gaming history... I don't know, you don't know, who knows?
Ironically my thread is simply just adding to the multiple posts about toxicity itself, but I just wanted to offer my thoughts on the subject matter as looking at it objectively can beg for open discussion.
