I am a ranked troll

I like winning as much as anyone else, but I'm not driven by it. I don't particularly care if I win or not. I play League because it's fun to fuck around with champion and item interactions. I play league because I want to find out if you can support with Veigar. Or if building full tank on him works. Or if I can jungle with attack speed Janna. I don't get mad when I see other people try similar stuff, even if they go 0/20, because the fucking around is the fun bit to me. I give very few fucks about the outcome of individual games. A victory is just validation that whatever wacky idea brewing in my brain can work. Even if it's situational or it was a fluke or I got carried.

I can see some of you turning red with bulging veins preparing to type "WHY THE FUCK DON'T YOU STAY IN NORMS?"

Interesting question, my rage filled friend. Let's consider what norms are.

The normals queue works exactly the same way as the ranked queue, but with less potential for reward. I start the process the same way, I get the same pick/ban phase, I get to play the same game paired against people who should be around my skill level. Literally the only differences between the queues are that ELO is hidden entirely in norms, and that I can't get season rewards by playing them.

There is no reason for me (or anyone else for that matter) to ever queue in norms, except to stay out of games of people who don't want to play with someone like me.

This presents a problem because people who aren't like me don't want to play with people who are. When I get put on a troll team, there is no conflict at all. Everyone spams memes and feeds and builds goofy things and has fun. When I play with people who take this game seriously, they get unimaginably salty.

i think this is the fundamental split in the league community. The "Play-to-win" mindset, vs the "Play-for-fun" mindset.

YOU are what is wrong with these community, YOU make people flame, ragequit and stuff like that. Omg how much I hate people like you, you play to make other angry, you know that you troll, that you make your team lose and your "don't care"mindset is the worst. And the best part? You will continue that, you can't be punished because trying off-meta picks and builds aren't punishable and you know that. How glad I am that you are on another server than me, so I will never have chance to play with you. Don't even bother to response to me, I will not discuss with trolls, everyone (you included) know that I'm right,

I'm all for playing for fun, but you should respect your teammates' goals enough to not experiment with something like Attack Speed Janna in the Jungle during a ranked game.

Whether or not you care about winning or losing is only part of the equation. Most people you'll team up with in Ranked DO care about winning, and if you're playing below your ability, your own enjoyment of the game is actively detracting from theirs. People in ranked matches have the right to reasonably expect that their teammates are doing their best.

If you're going to build something goofy, at least have the courtesy to test it in a few normals first, then explain what you're doing. "Janna JG isn't troll, I've tested her scaling with attack speed and it works incredibly well", if true, would diffuse potential conflicts.

Ranked is supposed to be a serious and competitive environment, and YOU are ruining that. You are the problem with the community.

I agree with OP. I play to have fun, not necessarily to win. Whether or not my teammates have the same objective is COMPLETELY irrelevant to me. These are random potatoes in #yolo queue. I have NOTHING invested with them. Therefore, if they say or do anything that I disagree with and I think they will get upset by losing then I will throw them under the bus. It's more amusing to see teammates I don't like tilt and do things that might get themselves banned. It's not like I've got anything other than my LP to lose. There is almost nothing at stake for a win/loss thus it doesn't matter much to me whether I win or lose.

However if I get teammates that wanna talk trash and call me bad, I'll get my fun by willfully getting them killed in teamfights and passively throwing the match (all while maintaining good CS and KDA so as not to be banned for non-participation). This is the nature of this game. It's somewhat toxic by design. The key is to work within the broken system to extract the most fun from it. I refuse to carry people I don't like.

If Rito wants this to change they'd need to create some actual incentive to win that would supercede just having fun. The only thing I can think of that might accomplish this (for me) would be if this was a gambling game and by queueing you are betting on your team winning. If you win, you get paid by the losing team, if you lose, you pay the losing team. However, I don't see this as being a realistic possibility.
