Is creating a Smurf a bannable offense..?

I've been hard stuck in Bronze for almost 4 years. While I know I was super bad for awhile, my CS and gameplay has greatly improved. I don't play too much because I work, but in 3 nights went from b5 to b3.

Every time I'm a game or 2 from getting out of bronze, mmr gets reset, and Im placed in B5 no matter how good I do.

For example, last season I went on a league binge, and went from b5 to b1 in about a week. I was one win away from Silver, but the season ended the next day.

When provisionals came, I won all 10 games, got an S on 8 of them, got my M7, but was still placed B5.

I feel if I made another account, leveled it up, and played ranked, I'd be a much higher eli. Is it against the rules to make a smurf?

Smurfing generally implies that a good/experienced player has created a new account in order to be matched against people of a much lower skill average, so that they can stomp the other team and just have a great time.

So, considering you've never gotten out of Bronze, despite saying that you have improved a lot, I don't think the skill gap would be large enough for you to actually be concerned about true smurfing. It's not against the rules to create new accounts for honest, well-intentioned reasons, AFAIK.

Those who actually doing the bad/toxic type of smurfing should indeed be banned, such as when a high Gold/Plat + player creates a new account so that they can just shit on the foreheads of new players & Bronzes,_ cuz it's fun y'know?! _
It's just hard to catch them out (even though the match history should tell a fairly obvious story).

Not long ago my team got absolutely smashed by a particular player - so I checked their match history, which told the story of someone who has absurd K/D/A every single game (24/2/15... 19/2/5... 15/0/10... one after another). This person must have been at least Diamond, while I'm generally matched with Silvers and Golds... the skill difference palpable. That is a case where the account should be banned, as it makes games completely one-sided. That is not the case in question with you, based on what you've said.

Next season will have iron tier added and provisions will be reset.

New players to ranked will start from iron tier and if they do well in provisions, they will surf through the iron tier. As riot is changing their provisions formula.

Also, it will be easier to climb out of the lower depths of bronze as their have opened up that lower tier into iron tier.

I personally wouldn't recommend starting an alt account for the purpose of trying to boost that MMR. Things would be so different next year.

No it's not, Riot says it's fine, you can create as many accounts as you like. I have around 7 accounts, some just for the name, some I created but then stopped caring, I'm actively playing on 3 of them.

No, which is unfortunate.

There's no rule about not being able to make more than 1 account, but seeing as how you're still Bronze & the champion you play and the way you play him is seriously non-recommended/not meta, what difference does it make in making a new account?

Absolutely not.

Long ago, when I was stuck in the pits of bronze, made a second account. I leveled it to 30 and did my placements, and placed in silver. Where I found much better success, and much less frustration. I eventually went back and carried my bronze account out of bronze, (this is that bronze account) and I just hit plat this season.

One of my biggest pieces of advice for players looking to get out of bronze is to make a new account, get it to 30 and do placements.

I have 6 smurfs, one in plat, 2 in gold, 3 in silver.

I doubt it's bannable but it wouldn't even make sense. Playing on your main sometimes gets stressful and you might end up being toxic.

Your mmr hard resets if you don't play a whole season. For example, it will reset this January, and if you don't play until next January in season 10, it will be hard reset. Make a smurf, play on it, then go back to your main on season 10.

its like crossing the streets at a red light with no surveillance, its "a bannable offense" but no one ever gets banned for it.
