the whole honor system is just trash imo. such a massive waste of riots time and resources

I bet there is a high correlation between that button being clicked and being on the losing team. Even if you are a great team mate, a good shot caller, tilt proof, etc, if your team loses the salt comes out and the button gets pushed. Winning games you can have toxic people on your team but at the end it will still, most of the time, say that everyone on your team honored someone.
Usually the best player is honored. If was an even game, I'd still honor but other than that, if we lose and everyone did horribly, I don't honor anyone or if I single handedly carried the game and nobody really did much to help me, I don't honor.
