If you were recently banned and find out it's because someone else was on your account...

...please know that Riot holds you responsible for keeping your account information secure, which is why they may not unban you. Substandard or negligent security practices which can lead to account compromise may include things like;

  • letting anyone use your computer while you are logged into the client
  • literally giving your info away for any reason
  • using the same password/login everywhere
  • playing on foreign computers without awareness of possible keyloggers
  • visiting shady websites for free offers or illegal services

If you find yourself in any position similar to these, along with trying to avoid it in the future, please change your passwords and scan your computer for malicious programs, refer to the Recovering Your Account article and immediately submit a Support Ticket if you think your account has been compromised. I recommend checking out the Protecting Your Account article for information on keeping it safe from compromise.

If you fail to take action you may be held responsible for all actions someone else takes on your account, resulting in punishment you can't get rid of. This may sound unfair, but the failure to keep your account safe may do a lot of harm to other people's games through that account. Think of it like keeping track of your gun; if you forget it on a park bench you are partially responsible if someone else misuses it.

For now there is no two-factor authentication, but Riot has plans to add it soon™.

######Disclaimer: I do not necessarily agree with all of Riot's positions, but dems da rules.

Ya, I have been banned for third party use. Was not me but was my cousin when he managed to get a hold of it. It was my fault though since it is my account. It sucks, but it makes sense because there is no proof that it was him.

Ugh, sorry but you are kind of the problem right now.

Every situation is different in real life, there are always exceptions and sometimes they require a human response, which a set of rules simply cannot govern.

If rules are so crystal clear, why do we have a judge or lawyers?

Because rules can be interpreted in different ways and to ensure a safe and justified sentence human decision making has to be made.

Don't go around kissing riots but just because you wanna be the "good guy" or whatever.

(the last and first line does not apply to you, it applies to anyone who agrees with these rules)

If someone is using my account I'm always afraid to report it to Riot. "Thank you for telling us, now we'll permaban you since it's your fault they guessed your password."

More often than not, Riot will ban your account without any option to unban it. Even when your account shows no signs of being compromised, they wont even use a tool they have to track IP's connecting to your account. In short, this is another way for Riot to make money by banning people claiming that their account was caught abusing a 3rd party program. If your account has been banned this way you should make multiple threads and call them out on it, as it's probably the only way to unban your account and get them to stop doing this to other people.

It is your fault for not decompiling that adobe reader and seeing the obvious bufferoverflow which could be used to execute a powershell pulling in a keylogger. Trust me, Kali is like giving the keys of a Ferari to a kid.
