Seriously I was getting trolled in these games why am I banned for getting trolled?

Seriously Riot who designed this system? This ass hole needs to get fired or something, how can you just shit on your players like this when you've got trolls who intentionally want to lose the game and waste your time. How are you supposed to react to this? Just keep quiet and fucking hope for the best??? Since when was it more worth it to waste 30 minutes of my time just to report someone after the match than spending my time actually trying to win the match WHICH IS WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO FUCKING DO, BUT NO SINCE YOU GET PEOPLE WHO WANT TO SHIT ON YOU JUST CUZ THEY CAN AND CAN BANNED FOR IT WHAT THE FUCK??

when i said fking ass hole was towards the enemy jungler ganking me when i was fighting 1v1 mid talking to my self... it wasnt even in all chat i have all chat disabled...

and from that point on the guys were just trolling me for no reason cuz i lost mid with the nidalee camping me

That still doesn't excuse the behavior. You're supposed to be courteous to ALL players in the game, not merely those on your team.

...yes? If someone on your team considers that behavior unacceptable, it's reportable, even if you're not directly insulting that person.

If everyone you're playing with is a friend of yours and isn't reporting you, then you can type whatever you want in teamchat, usually with no repercussions.

Well, firstly, I don't work for Riot -- I'm just a community volunteer. So I don't control the system at all.

I'm also not sure how asking you to be courteous to other players is a flawed system.

If this metaphor extended into the League universe where I have a magic button that makes them unable to continue their action (i.e. the MUTE button), then I would press it and keep going about my day.

We all get players like this in our games. Mute them, ignore them, and proceed about your day.

I have won many matches without any game-relevant text communication, and many after muting anywhere from between one to four players. It is also less important to lose the game than it is to risk losing the account.

I have a feeling you most likely didn't win more than one of them, and if you did, I can guarantee you it's not because you flamed.

As others have stated, retaliation (otherwise known as the "he started it" excuse) is not okay here as it just makes the situation worse for all involved. While you may not like it muting is your best friend in those situations as it helps to diffuse the situation and get everyone to focus on what's really important: the actual game itself. If you don't want to use the mute button then that's fine, but just don't expect to gain any sympathy if you decide to drop down to their level when the option to mute them is readily available instead.

That's not true. We all like to win, but at the same time we also like to have fun and don't like having players who are being verbally abusive jerks in our games, and the three aren't mutually exclusive either. For me personally the only times I report someone is when they are blatantly ruining the game by behaving like a jerk. Believe it or not it is actually possible to win and possible to lose without raging at and flaming your teammates every other minute.

Contrary to what you might think the vast majority of us don't go into games thinking "hmm, who am I gonna report today?", but rather we go in to win and to have fun. Now I myself am a very competitive person and I really dislike losing. Because of that I am often very critical of my own performance and as such get frustrated rather easily whenever I start to do very poorly (i.e. when I go on a losing streak). However, I know better than to take out my anger and frustration on my teammates, as not only does it waste valuable time and potentially hinders our teams chances to win but it's also meaningless: they had nothing to do with it and raging at them only puts my account at risk at receiving a punishment.

If you must rage then just do what I do and just yell and rage at the screen instead of in game. This way I can let out my anger and frustration without compromising the state of the game and/or my account by raging in the chat.

TL;DR It's not that we don't care about winning: we do. It's just that we also like to have fun while we're winning, and having someone whose only interested and yelling and raging at other people at the first sign of trouble is not fun, hence why we report these individuals whenever we come across them. We don't go into games looking to report someone, we go in there looking to both win and to have fun, and if we just so happen to come across someone who's being a jerk then so be it.

Context doesn't matter at all. Someone can hold a gun to your head and say "type a racial slur or I will kill you" and you will get punished for typing a racial slur, This is an extreme example but absolutely true.

Still, I wouldn't care about a shitty account as long as I'm alive ;-) Btw. usually nobody is forcing you to type racial slurs or what ever. So I don't know why context should matter ... it's your decision to type what you type.

The only thing I can think of is if your account got scammed. But otherwise ... it really doesn't matter.

Maybe if we lived in a perfect world context wouldn't matter. However, I know from experience that just about everyone has a breaking point. It's not hard to make a child angry. When they get angry, they say shit they don't mean.

I'm not trying to say retaliation should be a thing. I'm saying it's an inevitability. It shouldn't happen. It sucks when it happens. It will happen.

it's your decision to type what you type.

I'm not sure someone like you can understand. To have perfect control over your actions at all times is a rare gift. Be thankful if you have it but don't hate those of us that don't.

You got banned for a poor reaction to those trolls. It's not an eye for an eye here, you are expected to act like a decent human being at all times. If you're being trolled mute them, end the game as soon as you are able, and move on with your life.

They will be judged by their actions. You were judged for your own. The two are separate and that is why you were punished.

It's because you're only adding to an already negative situation. Harassing trolls is exactly the response they want. As such, do you honestly believe that saying any of what you've said here was going to magically make them change their mind and stop trolling? I'm going to give it maybe a 1% chance, at best. But on the flip side, if you act like that regularly, it has a 100% chance of resulting in a punishment against you.

Absolutely none of that is required for self-defense.

Want to know what self-defense is in league? Muting somebody that's harassing you, and reporting them after the game.

Unfortunately, there's not a good equivalent for people who AFK or intentionally feed or other things that aren't in the chat. At that point, you just have to power through to the end of the game and then report them.

Reports matter (as you have now experienced first-hand). The person will be punished if they do this stuff often.

If you don't want to mute them, that's fine: no one is saying you have to. But, when the option is readily available, it removes the "self-defense" excuse and turns your behavior into merely being toxic back at them. That's all he's saying.

If somebody is trolling, you're pretty much guaranteed a loss anyhow.

So your choices are lose the game and put your account at risk, or lose the game and don't put your account at risk. Why would you ever choose the former?

I've always felt like toxic players decrease the entertainment of the game and eventually your chances of winning. But when you start being toxic towards another player, you're rarely helping. Now your team isn't dealing with just a bad/ toxic player: now they're dealing with two.

Defending yourself means taking actions that protect you from further harm. Retaliating does not protect yourself from further harm. Retaliation, particularly when you lower yourself to the level of your attacker, is quite clearly against the rules that we all agreed to and should come as no surprise that it's punishable.

Take the thick skinned approach and ignore them. It's easier on you in the long run.

This isn't a bar room brawl, it's text on the internet. You don't need to "defend yourself" from text in an online game. Your method of "defense" should be to mute them, report them after the game and move on.

Looks like you allowed them to do that. Trolls can only do what they do if you let them. If everyone ignored the troll then they wouldn't really have any power anymore and they would go away.

If you allow yourself to get so upset by a video game that you can't control your emotions then that is on you. No one can make you feel or do anything, it is all your choice one way or the other. If I call you "stupid" you can either chose to respond with more name calling and let it bother you or you can chose to laugh it off and ignore it. Hint: One of those will not get you banned. Double-Hint: Chose the one you didn't do the first time.

My dad used to say, "it takes two to start an argument". If you don't fight them then there's nothing they can do. Mute, report, move on. Easy as can be.

I think you may have fallen into their trap. The reason they behave in a manner that could be described as trolling is people flip out in this game. Bannable keywords are easy to come by and they do this in hopes of getting that instant feedback popup. The best we can do is mute and move on.

Back to topic... a troll saw that you were short tempered trapped you and it was beautiful ofc you can protect yourself from trolls its called report button. You cant take matter into your own hands. Thats why there is punishment system in place. I really admire trolls who make trolling into an art... provoking short tempered people just enough to set them off but not enough to get themselves banned... truly inspiring

@SuicideAll It's not a matter of gift, it's a matter of EGO, which low elo players have too much... Seeing as someone is telling them off or saying they have done something wrong sets them off. When you tone that ego down, you start learning from your teammates. You present your arguments he presents his and then you compare to see which is better. Maybe neither is, but you come up with better 3rd solution. That's teamwork

Tbh people are saying diamond 5 has same kids and trolls like bronze 5, but i'm currently plat 5 and i haven't encountered a single int feeder, troll or flamer in months (i made a wrong call, we died at nash and lost the game.. noone flamed.. we moved on)
