Player Behavior in Chat Select

I just queued up for a ranked game. In chat select, one of my teammates immediately posted a prepared statement that he/she is going to troll no matter what and we better dodge and take the -3 LP than play with him. He/she then continued to yell various things at our team throughout the rest of champ select.

Long story short, no one dodged, we played the game, he trolled and intentionally fed. (kudos to the rest of my team though because we almost pulled it out 4 v 6). I muted him right away and so did not hear anything he may or may not have said during the game itself. What I did find interesting is that in end of game screen, he tried to play it off as us being toxic to him. As if typing this, I still have not received a notice that "Someone has been punished (or whatever) due to a recent report you submitted."

This is not the first time I've had someone declare in champ select that they will troll. There is currently no ability to report someone from champ select without going through to the game. I did submit posts in the past trying to highlight people who did this before I was informed that doing so is against code of conduct (public shaming essentially).

I'm interested if Riot is actually able to monitor chat select somehow, how should I approach these situations differently, and/or what could be changed to make it better?

The Instant Feedback System does not check lobby chat in its review, but those logs are saved and can be pulled for manual review if necessary. Make sure you report them and annotate the lobby behavior in the report description for that.

While that might kind of suck, people that are toxic in the lobby tend to be so in-game as well anyway, so would be punished by the IFS anyway. From what you say, this player will likely not have this account very long due to his behavior in the game even if his lobby chat isn't checked.

here's the thing you take a risk with soloque especially. Most of the time you're going to get feeders and trolls, no matter what in low elo. That's how it is. The game is against you. It's either you're apart of the problem and fail to see it or just get ahead but dont know how to properly close out the game.

I fall into the category of i wont feed in lane, and ill get moments of greatness and get wayyy ahead but i dont have the game knowledge to close it out. Or ill go even and the other lanes feed and i dont know how to stop that. there is a way, i've seen it. And if you're a master/diamond jungler whatever your rank is past gold. You can prevent people from really feeding and help snowball the game.

You can't control others, doesn't matter if they get some kind of punishment they will step back in rank and really doesn't matter because after that game you will never mostly ever see that player again.

You have to become good in order to get more like minded individuals to be a teammate. Those people fall into higher elos.

Here's my issue. I want a sense of justice. The entire reason that Riot gave notification in the first place when someone got banned or whatever when a player reported them is because it matters that you feel your grievances are met. When I see someone explicitly saying to me that their entire goal for my match or even just champ select is to make my life miserable, I want to make sure that they get their just rewards.

Right now, I have on multiple occasions seen "trolls" exploit the Player Moderation System. As stated above, Champ select chat is not included unless specifically referred to. People that are toxic enough to force people to quit before game start don't get included in moderation, even though they should.

As I recently experienced, there are people who rely on two facets of the system. One, as already listed is that Champ Select chat is not automatically included in the review process for reports. The second, which ties directly into this is that I am making an educated guess that many (if not most) people check the relevant boxes for 'reportable' behavior and then move on.

I am not allowed to post pictures of the champ select chat because, in an ironic twist, that would like levy punishment on me instead. But for posterity sake, I will copy over the text I saw so there is no grey line for my reasoning. (* added. Original was full word. Everything else is as is)

"If you do not dodge, I will fking troll. I will do this because I want to punish the 4 fking idiots who are too fking dumb to give up 3LP over a sure loss. YOu have been f*king warned. I will fking LAUGH at you all f**king game too. Act like an adult and EAT SHIT. STUPID LITTLE CHILDREN. GROW UP!!"

Justice is, at its base level, making other people feel better. Thats the whole point; allowing people to feel that doing good things makes their life better and doing bad things makes your life worse.

But, to be clear, I am more concerned about the loopholes in the current system. There is currently a system in place that people can sidestep as already evidenced. To tell people who are explicitly getting trolled that they can't do anything about it, that is a flaw and unacceptable.
