Players who want to do good and not troll will always listen to advice, at least enough to determine if the person is being helpful or harmful. Thing is, most of the players that do horrible consistently and have played for more than a short period of time really do not have much interest in getting better. And any new player that instantly refuses assistance is clearly a problem in the game. Both should be given warnings about behavior, at the least.

Did you actually try to be nice? like did you ask if they wanted you to help them? Or went and suggested builds items and gameplay without ever asking whether they wanted the input or not?

Can't help people who don't want to help themselves

I tried to make a point here. But no one took the bait, so I'll spell it out. The no empathy thing goes both ways. People don't see your face and recognize you are trying to be helpful, they might think you are one of the toxic masses trying to tell them how to play.

If that's the case you just say "hey, I'm just trying to help, I'll back off." And then you do. You just let them go, let them play. You have no control over it. It can be aggravating to have people try to help you in a heated moment, even if their intentions are pure. They might misconstrue it as someone trying to assert intellectual dominance. You just respect it and move on, mute them if necessary.

Remember, you are trying to help them play better, not control them.

Okay. And?

A league match isn't the best place to be giving advises, wait until they cooldown

DrippyBrownHole2/11/2019, 2:51:56 PM2 votes

Wrong game for being nice. Inept bickering is the only language understood by the kinds of people LoL attracts

Not to be a pessimist, but just get use to it. This is League of Legends, AKA most toxic gaming community on the internet. If you can't handle flame, leave before you suffer a nervous breakdown. I've been playing for over 4 years, and it's been consistently the same amount of overbearing toxicity each year.

Again, not a pessimist, just a realist.

Good for you. If you offer someone welfare and they decline it and starve to death, it's not your fault. You did your part, they didn't do theirs.

Now pay a hacker to track him down. Leave cell phone at home, plant some drugs in his home, and tip the cops.

It really isn't a conversation about new players learning the game or old players relearning, it is just about where they are emotionally and how mature they are.

Some players are children who don't want to listen to anyone or anything for one reason or another, either because they will do whatever they want to and you aren't the boss of them, they can't stand when others tell them what to do and think you are blaming or criticizing them, some are just bad players and can't be helped for one reason or another.

The best you can do is be a positive influence towards others but ultimately assume you have to be the carry and focus on doing that.

You do realise you would do this in the streets and it would be considered harrassement if he says no and you keep insisting? You have to respect people man. Not everyone wants to be schooled while playing a game.

Don't give up, there are always things you can do to become an effective teacher. Just wanting to help isn't enough.

LOL... let me guess, you flamed him and he ignored you. The worst players are always the first to give 'advice'.
