Riot, we need to talk about LeaveBuster.

I'm pretty sure we've all been there at one point. Game load screen comes up, but then you're sitting staring at it for a suspiciously long period of time. Finally, it dawns upon you that your wifi disconnected you somewhere during the loading process, and being the courteous player that you are, you immediately try to restart your load in so you won't leave your teammates down a man for too long. Finally, about 7 minutes into the game, you make it in, and you get ready to buy your items and try to catch up. Just as you're about to open up the shop, a screen pops up and tells you that since you've been disconnected for so long, you are being disconnected again. You die a little inside as your game exits and you have to endure your third load in screen of the last twenty minutes, only to finally show up too late to make a difference.

Riot, Leavebuster is great for catching trolls, but there are so many players (like me) with garbage computers or wifi that frequently get punished for something beyond their control. And if we try to fix the problem by loading back in, we immediately get kicked out again so that our teams have to wait even longer for us to return. At the very least, we need to consider removing the auto disconnect, since I don't really see the good it's doing.

Discussion, anyone?

Somewhere, buried in Riot's EULA, ToS or Summoner's Code or possibly in their documentation on LeaverBuster I'm pretty sure it says something about how being able to maintain connection to the game is your responsibility. If the problem is on their end they don't punish. It's considered negligence basically to not make sure you can play. In fact they recommend you don't if you don't think you can connect and stay that way.

All of these problems are on your end and therefore it is the expectation you will fix them. You can contact support if you want, or go through their FAQs on how to address the problem, but it is your responsibility to do so.

Sorry you're getting punished by the auto-disconnect (although I've never had to reload when my game failed to start even when it took over 5 minutes to reconnect) but it is there to detect people who have actually gone afk and punish them accordingly. And whether it is your intention or not, you are AFK when your internet is failing to allow you to connect.

There are some things Riot can immediately do about this. Their client should be updated. It is easily within Riot's power to recognize when your internet connection is offline or you are no longer sending / receiving from the Riot servers. All this can be done locally. 5-10 seconds of no communication should immediately initiate a popup on the screen to notify the player.

The system itself like all of Riot's systems is extremely flawed. A lot they could do, but they are happy with the very minimum system they have today.

i have to agree with the part that if you dc 1 time in a game that should only count as "+1 strike" and not +1 +1 +1 +1 for everytime you dc again in the same game. what leavebuster tells you right now "if you reconnect there is a chance you get kicked again. this counts already as 2 leaves. better dont reconnect at all" and that is not a good thing

Just don't play until it's fixed, I feel bad for you but it's the only solution I can think of for now.

Buy an Ethernet cable so you don't have to worry about wifi. I live in a college dorm and its the only way I can play. College wifi sucks.

DONT PLAY RANKED!

But still enjoy the game's fun Normals.

Additionally, you could plan and assess little tiny things you can do to reduce over heating, reduce dcs. Peak hours which can increase chances of dcs. Or a bit later or before to reduce. I know before my gaming PC, the only time i had time to play was before and after peak hours. Then when i changed jobs, i only had time during peak hours, and now i have a gaming PC. Even my gaming PC has some issues during peak hours (NA LoL servers get slammed at times, and even i dc when the servers are slammed).

I agree, LeaverBuster needs some tweaks. I'm pretty sure I've almost been banned because I hit alt+tab to answer a Curse Voice call and got a bug splat. Also has happened in your case with loading in. It is quite annoying and I wish Riot would make a system that could detect whether or not you manually disconnected yourself, or if your game crashed because no doubt someone has been banned or permabanned for this in the past.
