an idea for helping toxic players be better mid-game.

Please add an option in game that allows players to report another player WHILE the game is going.

If enough players report a player WHILE the game is in progress, the client will give a warning to the reported player that says something like, "Greetings, summoner! We understand you may be having a bad day, but ruining other player's experience will not be tolerated. Please correct your behavior and enjoy the game! Failure to do so could result in punishment."

Ok so here's where it gets interesting. After about 3-5 minutes there will be a teamwide pop-up vote box where the surrender box is which reads, "has X player improved their behavior?"

If the team votes yes, you can give some positive reinforcement to the reported player. Even a verbal thing helps like a chat message that says good job or something. If not, nothing happens here until the game is over, at which point the reports will already be made and sent out and the player can instantly be sent for review for punishment.

What does this do, you might ask? This gives a gentle and fair warning to players who are not naturally toxic but may be slipping. It allows them to reform and improve the game for everyone, right then and there, and as a reward if they immediately improve then they don't get in trouble.

Again this is more for those people who are tilted, or not naturally very toxic, but having a bad day or game or some event seriously affected them. It could immediately improve the experience for everyone.

Perhaps it's a bad idea but I thought it might be helpful! I've seen plenty of people who are playing decent, something happens that tilts them, and then they start trolling. This would be for those people and could perhaps bring someone right on the fence back into normal space.

Cheers.

I'm gonna have to say no...

Reason being is this wouldn't help the problem, only escalate their rage.

If someone is tilted and not necessarily toxic, you could do a world of good for them by talking nicely to them.

"Hey man, don't worry about it! We all have a rough time. YO JUNGLER! Their jungle just backed, let's 3 person gank their lane!"

And you know, if you pull that off, it will probably set them in a little bit of a better mood.

But srsly.. if your having a bad time is what you really wanna see a big popup flashing in your face saying "HEY YOUR BEING REPORTED BY YOUR TEAM, THEY ALL HATE YOU AND WANT YOU BANNED"

hrm. I think right now very few people ever try, "hey man could you please be nice and do better? sorry about that. But if you keep trolling ill have to report you."

Instead it's the instant rage that happens.

This system would, hopefully, encourage the team to give encouragement and be positive toward the player if they are improving and doing a better job. The player gets a feeling they can avoid being reported for their previous negative behavior and improve by being better (hence you don't have the, "I'm getting reported anyways so I don't care attitude.") The team gets a better chance of winning and stopping the negative behavior during the game before the game is lost.

I think it's beneficial for everyone. Usually by the point that people are saying, "GG REPORT REPORT YOU SUCK BLAH BLAH," there is so much anger that a little box won't enrage people further. But it might encourage people to start behaving better immediately.
