I want the ability to PERMANENTLY mute all players

DankDaddyDizzle··3 votes·1,828 views

I'm currently on a 24 game chat restriction. Why? For responding to trolls. I've had two chat restrictions now because of this. I wish riot would allow a setting to keep all players muted as soon as you get in game so I don't have to deal with trolls at all. I hate that muting is a manual thing that must be done every game.

But only 1% of players are problematic, right Riot? [sg-lulu]

Lol

Only 1% of players are consistently problematic.

DankDaddyDizzle1 votes

I find this stat very hard to believe. I have “problematic” players in nearly all of my games.

Kantala2 votes

You clearly ignored the "consistently" part. Most of the "problematic" players you encounter aren't consistently being toxic throughout every single game they play.

Even I can have a single bad day out of the 2700 days I have played League of Legends. Now am I going to remember those days? Probably not, but I can guarantee you that I have had a few. Now multiply that by about 3 million players and divide that by about 10. Okay, this is more complex than I thought, but the chances of you encountering more than one person in a single day having an off day can be either really high or really low from a day to day basis. This increases or decreases by which Q you're in. Just some food for thought, I play mostly arams so my chances of encountering "bad day" players are a lot lower than most people, but it still happens.

DankDaddyDizzle1 votes

Your point is irrelevant. I HAVE CONSISTENT GAMES where players are "problematic". When I forget to mute all, one toxic comment or harassment is enough to tilt me. Might sound overly sensitive, but I've experienced so much toxicity in this game the past 4 years or so that I've played, that I've just had enough. Riot doesn't do anything when I report and sticking up for myself in chat is not allowed by riot. So, my solution is to ask for a permamute button. I don't understand why I'm receiving so much flack for proposing a solution.

Imperial Pandaa3 votes

Less than 1% are consistently problematic enough to be permanent banned for their behavior. Which the math could work even now.

Arammus2 votes

this is such a wrong fact lol. if you google for "free lol accounts" you will come to a facebook page of a "free rp" community that give away the accounts they get. everyone can use them. at the end of 2017 they gave away a list with 500.000 hacked accounts. i checked 50 of them(randomly picked ones). 45 were permabanned. because EVERYONE can use them who downloaded the list.

so if 450.000 of the 500.000 are permabanned (math?) then this is way more than 1% lol

Kantala1 votes

Permabanned hacked/stolen/scripting accounts =/= toxicity banned accounts.

Yeah those statistics are joke, I havent played gmae where people wouldnt inult each other for a long time.

You can always move the chat box almost all the way out of view at the edge of your screen.

DankDaddyDizzle1 votes

Close, but still I wish to remove chat from each game as a setting.

No, you are not. Its games, not days.

Why? For responding to trolls.

Riot does not hand out chat restrictions for that. You got it for flaming. I suggest you sumbmit your chatlogs, for you almost definitly do not understand what you did wrong. And if you dont understandt, you cant change, and you already passed half the way for the perma.

I've had two chat restrictions now because of this.

No, you have not. Again, submit your logs.

I wish riot would allow a setting to keep all players muted as soon as you get in game so I don't have to deal with trolls at all.

Muting them wont stop you from chatting - doubtful this would do anything.

DankDaddyDizzle1 votes

You're right, it's "games" not "days". I've edited it. Everything else you say is false. Why would I be proposing a solution if all I wanted to do was be toxic as you are implying?

Then post your logs and prove it. Or insist that you are right and get a 14-day ban and then a perma, its your account. and your decision.

DankDaddyDizzle1 votes

My chat logs are irrelevant to the post. I'm proposing a solution. I don't want to put up with trolls, and responding to them has only tilted me and gotten me chat restricted. Why are you being like this? I'm asking for a good thing...to avoid toxic behavior and not get punishments for pushing back.

Imperial Pandaa3 votes

Because people seem to consider flaming back as "defending" or "responding"

DankDaddyDizzle1 votes

Well I can understand that. When you report people over and over again with no recourse from riot, I understand "defending" yourself when riot does nothing on your behalf.

Clearly, you're ignoring thousands of posts containing the people who come here with their chat restrictions and bans. Riot is doing things on YOUR behalf, just because you don't get notifications on the reports you send doesn't mean people aren't getting punished for their bad behavior. That being said, your behavior was punished as well.

DankDaddyDizzle1 votes

Then they need to be more transparent. I never see anyone get punished.

Kantala2 votes

Not really. Honestly, I feel the notification has had a negative impact on the community. People are quick to jump on the Riot does nothing and reports mean nothing bandwagon and blame it on the lack of notification for it. And for the most part you would be half correct, if it weren't for the fact that cognitive bias keeps getting in the way. People have a tendency to exaggerate the facts because they remember the bad a lot more than the good or neutral games. Believe me, things were a lot easier to explain without having to explain how random the notifactions work.

People also fail to realize or are quick to forget that it's more likely for someone to be having a really off day from their normal behavior than to be intentionally flaming every single game they're in. Thus the assumption is born that they're instantly a troll. Nevermind the fact that you probably weren't in the previous game with them and quite possibly won't be in the next game either.

So the only real way you'll see them get banned is by waiting to see if they post their punishment on the boards here. Which I would say you probably have better things you could be doing instead of sitting here in hopes that you'll see the people you've reported. Personally, I'd have lost a boat load of time doing that myself, and what would it get me? Nothing. I don't need closure. I already know the system works as intended by perusing through here for a little amount of time a day.

sounds like you need something like this

DankDaddyDizzle1 votes

YES A THOUSAND TIMES YES. I love this idea.

Chermorg2 votes

Riot has stated that they view chat as essential to the game, and as such will not make it easier for players to opt out of chat.

DankDaddyDizzle1 votes

That's a shame. All I've ever experienced in this game is toxic, trolling chat. It's not a positive feature in the game. Communication with pings is enough.

Imperial Pandaa1 votes

They are supposedly working on voice still though. At least according to the mic symbol of pbe.

Chermorg3 votes

I'm terribly sorry if that's what you're experiencing. I have to say that I haven't met people who have only experienced toxic, trolling chat. I think one of the important things is making sure that your chat is not just not toxic, but that your chat is positive and uplifting, and that if that doesn't work, you mute players quickly if they're turning south.

DankDaddyDizzle1 votes

Even positive chat is met with trolling, toxic replies. I’m done talking in game. I refuse to do it. I want to be able to toggle chat off permanently.

Kei1431 votes

While permamute can be OK, the real question is, why do you need to respond to trolls? Just ignore them.

Plus even if you mute them, they'll still be trolls and chances are you'll still flame them. Keep in mind that just because people are muted, doesn't mean that they can't see your chat.

If anything, what you want is a perma-SELF-mute, and not just a regular /muteall.

DankDaddyDizzle1 votes

No, this is not the case. Ignoring them does not work for me. I don’t want to see it in the first place. Which is why now I mute all at the start of the game and say nothing in chat. Guess you missed the part where I got restricted for REPLYING to trolls. I’m not going to type if I have everyone muted.

Sarutobi1 votes

So whats the problem with muting them at the start of the game?

Kei1431 votes

he wants to be lazy and not have to do that every game.

Imperial Pandaa1 votes

Cause 'Murica?

DankDaddyDizzle1 votes

no, it's more like I forget to mute all, then someone is toxic towards me, and I'd rather not deal with it at all. It's to the point where I've experienced so much toxicity in this game that one toxic comment tilts me. I'm done with having to deal with that. I'd rather just permanently mute chat.

JayceGatsby1 votes

So I just tried to meddle with settings. If you go to persistandsettings.json in your league config directory, set up ChatX and ChatY values to -1000, save it and dont forget to change the file to read only to prevent client from meddling with it.

From now on you will never see chat window in your gmaes ever again.

Enjoy your toxic free game :)
