Don't say gg if....

Umm that is a bit different then getting beated at a video game..........

To each his own... I prefer to play League of Legends, where instead, I say "gg" after people "kill" me repeatedly for half an hour.

You would after competing against them in a game or sporting event.

Which is what League of Legends is.

i think it's also a jerk move to say gg before the game is over, or if someone just got a pentakill and they spam gg or they say hey its 20 mins gg you can surrender now,or after every time they kill someone. There are so many ways people abuse the word gg and take its intention of being a sportsmanlike phrase, and just pervert it and ruin the game for everyone else by being cocky and rude with its use.

you would hardly ever see such unsportsman behaviour in basketball, soccer ect. You wait until the end of the game to say good game and hand shake. If you do see that kind of behaviour it's usually frowned upon.

It's so easy to say not try to read into it, but sometimes it really hurts. Is it reportable btw?

I never experienced that kind of behaviour while playing sports, even in high school, but I guess the online community is a different beast. However, I think that's also part of the reason esports aren't really taken seriously is because of the unsportsmanlike behaviour. People just like to troll, instead of being mature, humble and sportsmanlike in their conduct.

After a loss, a man is down on himself. Everything you typed simply would be the equivalent of "rubbing salt in the wound" and would be taken as sarcasm. If you say it at score screen it's different but not while the nexus is blowing up.

That's like getting slam dunked on and falling to the ground. Then the big man looks down on you and says in a deep voice as he looks into your eyes "gg". (or like someone setting your house on fire and telling you gg while it's burning)

Now when I lose to jax my response will be " I wish I could play jax as well as you.."

Of course, In your eyes you might think I'm showing "sportsmanship" (which is debatable as an existence itself)

but in my heart I know I'm being completely sarcastic, salty, and will cry after I leave the lobby.

You used the right word there in an ambiguous grammatical context. "good game" is the literal meaning of "gg". It's rather funny you should cling so hard to the literal meaning of something, while using (rather inappropriately btw) "autistic" as a substitute for "pedantic".

With language, ultimately what counts is that people understand the thought that people wanted to convey. If most people use "gg" as the verbal equivalent of a handshake, and most people understand "gg" as the verbal equivalent of a handshake, then that is exactly what it is. At the very least as a figure of speech.

I understand how everybody else sees it but I also don't feel the same way. GG will always be "good game" to me regardless of how many people accept it as a "verbal handshake". I also resent the feeling I get that it's bad manners somehow if you don't automatically say it after every match. It's like when I played little league baseball and I was forced to say good game and actually shake hands with teams who routinely kicked our asses like saying "Good job slaughtering us! That was a mighty fine ass-kicking you handed us there." This is why I said autistic, because it is a pathological problem with me as are many other things that will not change with any amount of effort. I'm habitually negative about a lot in life but I've been granted the grace to learn I should keep it to myself at least. The most sportsmanship will ever mean to me is keeping my mouth shut when I lose.

The only time I have a problem with people saying gg is when they win a 5v4/5v3/5v2 game. Afks are a never a GG.

the gg may or may not be there to make you feel better its the version of manners people have in this gameing and some people may feel that it was a good game. i dislike when people just say feeding that could mean anything from walking into the enemies tower intentionally to being 5 man ganked right as your ward expires repreatedly until the enemy team proceeds to snowball off of it.
