This game is dying and the REAL toxic players are killing it.

I used to be a 5-10 game a day player when I have time to play league but the game and community has become so toxic I can only stand about 1 game a day now because I do actually really love the game. Ive been playing this genre about as long as anyone possibly could and playing very early versions of DOTA on the WC3 Frozen Throne xpac. So I get my one game of the day in and im the only person on my team that isn't trolling. Its late at night and no one even speaks English as a main language on my team but myself. A team full of trolls speaking Chinese and being extremely toxic at 1am Eastern Time. This pretty much sums up every game that I play on League now and its not even enjoyable anymore. I came to the conclusion that I now like watching the esport more than playing the game due to the player base and how toxic everyone is. Sadly I know not to even mention anything about being trolled in a game then BOOM they all flip the script on me and blame me for being toxic. I now understand why this game is dying.

It brings me back to a video I saw of the female gamer that voices Tristana and she was asked if she plays League. She pretty much says hell no the game and community is too toxic as she continues kicking ass in the game she prefers playing. I didn't think anything of it until now really. I mean hell even watching the esport you can look at the chat and see all the iron, bronze, and silver kids calling the pro players trash and flaming the hell out of every bad play that is made a lot of time with homophobic or racial slurs. I know the game isn't DEAD yet, but its definitely dying. And the REAL toxic players are killing it imo. Not the people that get chat banned because they are so angry at being trolled so much in RANKED play. That's happened a few times to myself and I learned not to tread in those waters no matter how much the trolls are ruining your gaming experience, Riots answer is just to mute everyone and let your gaming experience be ruined by them but try to have fun guys and focus on your own game! hehe xD Rito

People have been announcing it's dying-ness since season 3. It makes AGoT's characters seem invulnerable

Do you have a suggestion to how Riot might be able to detect and catch trolls better than how it's currently being done? Because removing the chat restrictions are not going to suddenly make it easier to catch trolls.

Assuming Rito lives on long enough, eventually AIs will monitor the games and implement bans. That's a long way off though.

man i started playing in early season 2 and even back then i saw people say "the game is dying". its getting old.

It's trolling a video game.

Which is equivalent to ruining that video game. Why should that behavior ever be accepted, even one time? There's no such thing as accidental trolling. It's something you do with malice aforethought, by definition.

As far as I know Riot will still reverse/lessen the punishment when you are only guilty of quoting someone else without harassment. So apparently not.

The ban is still applied automatically. Which is how it should be in the case of returning trolls - get them out of the game first and ask questions later.

I did. Did you check their game history? That is hardly the first game they've inted. The one they got banned for was the third or fourth suspect game in OPGG.

One sibling has almost zero capability over how the other sibling plays on their own account.

It's annoying, though. That's the entire point. Put some goddamn roadblocks down. Even if they're small. Make it so you have to commit to trolling and put some amount of effort into it, rather than it being something you can just do without the slightest thought.

Because right now there are none. Literally None. There are no steps of any kind being taken. Zip. Zilch. Nada. The most basic of anti ban-evasion mechanics that literally every other multiplayer game on this planet has are absent in League.

You might be right with the game is dying, but high toxicity is just a symptom of that.

The current state of the game manages to peak the frustration to a whole new level.

I am completly agree with you man, I was playing league of legends since first season and saw the communaute getting worth and worth every year, with toxicity, people going in a game but actually afk 20% or writing insanity and not playing the game..

I enjoyed the game a bit to much I guess..when I see the amounth of money spend in skin, who I actually dont have anymore use. I cant still imagine selling this account, it would be to hard,it is the same with all my account for games actually.

But that is an other subject 😅

I know that the competitivity of the game increase the " rage feeling" player can have, I understand that. However when it is everygame that you are with people, who dont understand that the important is to have fun and that everybody only can have fun if everybody acte friendly and actually try to play the game. It can get really frustrating on long run combinate with the fact that nobody want to surender ever..

Finaly you are in a game with troll for 30 min, if you are lucky and 45 min if you are not. Where you will have to try to be patient and to try to dont just quit, because the game is not fun anymore and you was there to have good time.

That is if you dont become yourself toxic because you fell frustrate by the situation... Sometime you need to be a monk or just mute everybody (what I am not a big fan of, because it can be use to make strategie with your ally and it is game breaking in this game).

Now, I stoped league of legends and bougth a Nintendo switch, it is been one year now, and I actually redescover the feeling of just playing for the fun of the game and it is really good. Also to be able to stop when you want is a nice feeling 😊. The last console I owned was the playstation 2 and the game boys advance, I was a pc gamer for a wild on mmorpg, TCG, moba and fps ( not a lot only Mw 2). Now I am strugling to play to all the game I missed who got remake or portage and all the new game who is coming, but it is such a better feeling to have a collection of good games than a collection of skins 😁.

I was still looking for the feeling of competion that lol was provided so I started to go to smash bross Ultimate tournament at least here your wins or your loses are made by yourself and only yourself. Also the community of smash is helpfull and patient and they helping you to progress and understand the game with pleasure ( at least in my country).

To finish I just want to say to the player who still play lol, not everybody but the part of it who is toxic or who become toxic, that it is just a game even if the competition part is always present try to calm down, be patient, take a deep breath, try to have a positif team mindset and enjoy.

PS: Oh also I know that coming back in the game is possible and always nice, but dont be stupide when everybody is cross at each other in the chat and that the team in front have double the gold, it is lost in any case so you should better surrender sometimes to get a new fresh game😉. It is always better than staying in a toxic environnement with a game lost anyway (you dont have to punish yourself and the other player for the argue you could have also).
